Ottawa, Lansing, MI. 7:30a.m. – 4:30p.m.14.General Summary of Function/Purpose of PositionFunction as an independent contract specialist to estimate, scope, review, approve and manage statewide consultant survey authorizations for design surveys performed by consultant forces. The Survey Consultant Project Manager/Specialist are to contract for survey data for the following purposes : Development of plans for proposed new highway infrastructure or improvements to existing highway infrastructure; boundary surveys for establishing alignment and/or right-of-way location; miscellaneous support surveys such as hydraulic surveys, project control, geodetic control; mass geospatial data acquisition, etc. Coordinate projects with supervising Land Surveyor, MDOT Design Engineer and/or Design Project Manager, Region Surveyor and consultant survey firms. 15.Please describe the assigned duties, percent of time spent performing each duty, and what is done to complete each duty.List the duties from most important to least important. Must be able to communicate both orally and in writing. Frequent field reviews of proposed or active road/bridge survey projects requires walking over irregular terrain. Must have corrected vision to read plans or perform field related duties. This position functions as an independent contract specialist for writing the scope of work for survey contracts and reviewing and approving the finished product.26.What are the minimum education and experience qualifications needed to perform the essential functions of this position?EDUCATION:Possession of a bachelor's degree in surveying.EXPERIENCE:Four years of professional experience conducting land surveys, including two years equivalent to Land Surveyor P11, or one year equivalent to a Land Surveyor 12 or Land Surveyor Licensed 12.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:Knowledge of the operational and technical problems involved in the administration of a specialized program. Knowledge of state and federal laws and legislative processes related to the work. Knowledge of principles, practices and materials used in survey work. Ability to organize and coordinate the land surveying activities of a survey.
