Education Specialist Education Program Director and ES Advisor Exempt Per Salary Schedule Certificated 185 Days

Position Summary: Support and advise homeschool parents in order to provide an individualized, relevant educational plan for students in grades TK-12 and assist in other school programs as assigned. Candidate must be a self-starter with exceptional organizational skills and have the ability to work independently to meet all deadlines.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Support the mission, vision and goals of Excel Academy at California Pacific Charter Schools (Excel). Serve as a contributing member of the Excel staff and collaborate with team members

Develop a Course of Study for each student indicating curriculum encompassing the Common Core standards for each student

Effectively communicate feedback concerning the expectation of achievement with respect to learning goals

Meet with the student and parent at least once every 20 school days to collect, review, and assess student learning by reviewing the full body of work produced during the learning period and collecting representative samples of that work

Assist parents in the design and/or implementation of lesson plans throughout the academic year

Assist parents in choosing curriculum that ensures academic growth and excellence for each student and fits the parents' and students' learning styles

Complete attendance records, portfolio of work samples, and assignment and work reports for each student

Assigns additional student work if needed. Awards semester grades in conjunction with parents.

Maintain appropriate records to keep track of student attendance, academic progress, and grades

Responds to parent, student and administrative inquires within 24 hours of contact Order and distribute educational resources or materials as appropriate Notify parents and students of school-related updates and provide information regarding

the school's educational services Complete requisitions for books and instructional supplies, maintaining inventory records

for each student Provide instructional and intervention support for students who are not meeting academic

expectations based on the student's C ourse of Study and monthly Reflection pages Identify student needs and cooperates with Excel staff in assessing and helping student

with health, personal, and learning challenges b y way of an Accountability Plan. Collect pertinent academic data in order to participate in Student Study Team (SST) or

special education meetings Maintain professional competence through in-service educational activities provided by the

school and other professional growth activities Participate in proctoring and preparing any state mandated and school wide testing;

provides test prep strategies and materials for students Participate in project committees and/or sponsors student group activities Attend meet and greet events with approved vendors and various community events Supervise students on field trips as assigned

Other Duties:

Document and report to Excel administration all formal disciplinary actions involving students and staff; address and resolve complaints from students, parents, and staff in a timely manner; ensure compliance with the Excel Uniform Complaint Policy and the Excel Uniform Technology Policy and the provisions of California Penal Code Section 11166 (Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act)

Perform other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES

Knowledge of:

Current trends and research concerning the growth and development of TK-12 grade children

Principles, theories, practices, methods and techniques used in curriculum development, instruction and assessment

Use of Computer Technology: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have general knowledge of accounting software, database software, how to use the internet to find information and complete tasks, email usage, order processing systems, spreadsheet software, and word processing software. The ES is expected to acquire and maintain a working computer with an internet connection and a printer.
