A RESOLUTION

CONDEMNING STUDENT ORGANIZATIONS

ENGAGING IN DISCRIMINATORY PRACTICES

The USG Senate

DEEPLY CONCERNED that the Christian Legal Society’s settlement with Arizona State University would set a precedent for future acts of discrimination by student organizations;

WHEREAS the USG Senate has the power to appropriate funds to student organizations;

WHEREAS the USG Senate has a moral and legal obligation to ensure that public tax dollars and student tuition are not used to support discriminatory organizations;

AND PURSUANT TO Title IX, Article 14.6 §C of the USG Bylaws, which prohibits USG funding of organizations whose activities discriminate on the basis of race, religion, sex, or sexual orientation;

FIRMLY RESOLVES that the USG Senate condemns all acts of discrimination in Arizona State University and firmly refuses, without exception, to endorse, support, or fund any student organization of Arizona State University that engages in any discriminatory practice.
