Abstract (English)

The purpose of this project was to provide a deeper understanding of web services, particularly in the context of an online multi-player game. This paper describes the design and implementation of certain features of the action game Superfighters Deluxe. These features include a dynamic website, a user account system, a multi-player game server browser and a system for automatic software updates. This thesis reviews strengths and weaknesses of web technologies such as and PHP and database technologies such as MySQL and SQL Server. The technologies used in this project were and MySQL. We determined that these technologies are powerful, reliable and flexible tools for creating web applications. The conclusions of this research are supported by the results of internal and public testing of the applications.

Syftet med det h?r projektet var att ge en djupare f?rst?else f?r web services, speciellt i samband med ett online-multi-playerspel. Rapporten beskriver designen och implementationen av vissa best?ndsdelar av actionspelet Superfighters Deluxe. Bland dessa features finns en dynamisk webbplats, ett anv?ndarkontosystem, en game server browser f?r onlinespel samt ett system f?r automatiska mjukvaruuppdateringar. Den h?r rapporten unders?ker starka och svaga sidor hos webbteknologier s?som och PHP och databasteknologier s?som MySQL och SQL Server. Teknologierna som anv?ndes i projektet var och MySQL. Vi konstaterade att dessa teknologier ?r kraftfulla, p?litliga och flexibla verktyg f?r att skapa webbapplikationer. Slutsatserna av v?r forskning st?ds av resultaten fr?n interna och publika tester av de olika applikationerna.

This project came from our desire to make a great multi-player game. To pull it off, we needed to expand our knowledge about web applications.
