SIDE EFFECTS: (2 MOST COMMON AND 2 MOST SERIOUS): none noted other than serious staining of clothing and instruments.
HOW IT IS USED IN SURGERY: The solution is applied by topical application to superficial wounds and abrasions and has proved particularly useful after punch biopsies and removal of localised skin lesions by curettage. It has also been proposed as a haemostatic agent for use after cervical biopsy, shave excision, nail
fold biopsy, nail matricectomy, and cerumen removal.
