|JOB SUMMARY |
|In concert with the Central Services team, the UWHC Surgical Services Supply Clerk (SSSC) - Senior is responsible for the effective and efficient resupply of |
|requested supplies, equipment, and linen in a large and complex university hospital operating room. The UWHC SSC-Senior is a highly responsible position that assists|
|the supervisor in controlling work flow, hiring, training, scheduling and evaluating employees. At the SSSC-Senior level, the employee is considered to have attained|
|a high degree of materials management knowledge pertaining to medical/surgical supplies and equipment. Working under general supervision with a high degree of |
|independence this lead worker position has responsibility for: the ongoing operation of the unit, particularly during a shift; ensuring that work standards are |
|maintained; providing instruction and information to lower level employees relative to procedures; and implementing changes in procedures and policies of the unit. |

|Incumbent performs his/her job demonstrating technical ability, understanding of job expectations and compliance with organizational policies and procedures. The |
|incumbent performs all tasks assigned by their supervisor or lead worker as well as the following job responsibilities as part of the Central Services team: |
|MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES |
|1. Serve as the principal Surgical Services Supply Clerk in the O.R. sterile core: |
|Use UWHC specific computer systems (ESI, PeopleSoft, AtPar, Health Link). |
|Interact with bar code technology (hardware and software). |
|Specialized knowledge of a vast inventory (>2500 items) of supplies and equipment. |
|Stock nurse servers in OR sterile core. |
|Maintain and deliver emergency OR case carts. |
|Store and issue OR Services sterile pans. |
|Assist OR theater by delivering supplies as needed. |
|Assure that quality work standards are achieved by each SSSC in the operating room. |
|2. Serve as the principal Surgical Services Supply Clerk in ORCS and Outpatient Surgery: |
|Use UWHC specific computer systems (ESI, PeopleSoft, AtPar, Health Link). |
|Interact with bar code technology (hardware and software). |
|Specialized knowledge of a vast inventory (>2500 items) of supplies and equipment. |
|Pick scheduled and STAT case carts for Operating Room cases. |
|Resupply ORCS supplies. |
|Maintain and deliver emergency OR case carts. |
|Store and issue OR Services sterile pans. |
|Assist OR theater by delivering supplies as needed. |
|Maintain the ORCS area in an orderly manner. |
|Maintain Outpatient Surgery supply areas. |
|Assure that quality work standards are achieved by each SSSC in ORCS and Outpatient Surgery. |
|3. Assist Supervisor With Staffing Issues: |
|Control workflow. |
|Advise supervisor in the hiring, training, scheduling and evaluation of employees. |
|Assist with the implementation of policies and procedures for the work unit. |
|Provide orientation and training to new employees assigned to the work unit. |
|4. Perform additional duties as assigned |
|Ensure shelving units and bin boxes in all supply areas are free of dust and debris. |

|REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS |
|Education |High School Diploma or equivalent. |
|Work Experience |Two (2) years experience in a supply, distribution, or materials management work setting. One year (1) experience in a UWHC Central |
| |Services work classification may be considered adequate minimum qualifications. |
|Licenses/Certifications | |
|Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities|Excellent communication, customer service, human relations and interpersonal skills. |
| |Effective oral and written communications skills. |
| |Knowledge of and ability to use computers and a variety of computer programs including word processing, database management and |
| |spreadsheets. |
| |Position includes sustained standing, stooping, twisting, bending, and carrying/lifting a minimum of 40 lbs. |
