|JOB SUMMARY |
|The Surgical Services Tech Supervisor - TAC is responsible for leading the daily and administrative functions of non-RN positions employing demonstrated expertise as a |
|Technician in surgical services within pre/post op and/or intraoperative care. The position, partnering closely with the Nurse Manager, provides direction and |
|leadership to ensure UW Health meets the ‘Quadruple Aim’ of great patient care and improved population health within an efficient cost structure, while improving the |
|work life of providers and staff. Principal responsibilities include oversight of the daily operations by managing resources and creating an environment of staff |
|accountability to deliver a high-quality patient outcome. |

|The Tech Supervisor serves as a role model promoting competent patient care and compliance with quality improvement programs. This position manages staff schedules, |
|materials and the organizational needs by employing effective collaboration and communication with staff, surgeons, anesthesia personnel, and other nursing and |
|non-nursing leaders. |
| |
|The position actively supports an aligned approach toward the development and administration of surgical services policies, procedures and guidelines throughout all UW |
|Health Surgical Service Departments and participates in system wide problem solving, sharing of data and other collaborative efforts. |
|MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES |
| |
|Clinical Practice and Leadership |
|Provides for ongoing in-service educational opportunities for the staff in the specialty areas. |
|Plans for and provides a staff schedule which meets patient care needs. |
|Assists in communicating department/leadership decisions and policies to staff and physicians |
|Facilitates the flow of information from medical staff to the other department staff regarding patient care procedures and new equipment |
|Provides a safe and therapeutic environment for patients, students, and unit staff |
|Conducts staff meetings on a regular basis |

|Personnel Management |
|Recruits staff members who are in congruence with service excellence and quality patient care |
|Engages in ongoing feedback to the effectiveness of staff members into their roles |
|Conducts annual reviews that foster mutual goal setting and feedback on performance |
|Initiates appropriate remediation or investigation of employee relations concerns |
|Facilitates orientation of all new staff and promotes ongoing continuing education |
|Participates in the recruitment process, including interviewing and selection of staff |

|Resource Management |
|Develops and utilizes a process for effective fiscal management, including utilization of materials and supplies |
|Assists in making adjustments to staffing matrix |
|Participates in the preparation of the budget |
|Monitors fiscal reports in collaboration with the Nurse Manager |
|Promotes cost-effective behavior in staff through observation and education |
|Participates in the development of annual department goals and objectives |
|Identifies and resolves complex or recurring operational problems and consults with the Nurse Manager |

|Participates in developing patient care policies and procedures |

|Education |Minimum |Completion of Surgical Technologist Program. |
| |Preferred |Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Medical Technology, Nursing or relevant clinical science. |
|Work Experience |Minimum |Three (3) years of Surgical Tech or relevant surgical services experience |
| |Preferred |Leadership experience with demonstrated success |
|Licenses & Certifications |Minimum |Basic Life Support/CPR |
