2007 Excellence in Corporate Philanthropy Awards

Corporate Excellence Award

In February 2008, the Committee Encouraging Corporate Philanthropy (CECP) will recognize two companies with CECP Excellence Awards. Since 2000, the awards have been presented annually to companies demonstrating outstanding CEO commitment, dedication to measurement, innovation, and partnership in corporate philanthropy. The awards luncheon, which also includes an award for a non-profit organization, will be hosted by CECP in recognition of National Corporate Philanthropy Day - February 25, 2008. excellenceawards

ELIGIBILITY

• Eligibility for this award is limited to businesses in the private sector.

• Companies may be publicly or privately held and applications are encouraged from all industry sectors, geographical regions, and workforce sizes.

• Prior award recipients are not eligible to apply for 4 years (2002 award winners may reapply this year). Prior corporate award winners include Cisco and Grand Circle (2005) GE, Novartis, and Arch Chemicals (2004), Pfizer and Hasbro (2003), Target and Whole Foods Market (2002), IBM and Timberland (2001), and Merck (2000).

SIZE CLASSIFICATION

Companies apply in one of two size categories:

• Large company: public or private company with revenues exceeding $3.0 billion

• Small company: public or private company with revenues equal to or less than $3.0 billion

PROGRAM CHARACTERISTICS

• Significant level of involvement by the CEO, executive leadership, and staff in promoting and executing company engagement in corporate philanthropy initiatives

• Targeted and innovative philanthropy initiatives with focused measurement and evaluation components that demonstrate societal impact and/or business value

• Intelligent partnership(s) with community organization(s) that develop and implement successful initiatives

AWARDS PRESENTATION – CEO OR CHAIRPERSON MUST ACCEPT AWARD

• The CEO or Chairperson is required to accept the Excellence Award in person at the awards luncheon on National Corporate Philanthropy Day - February 25, 2008 in New York City. If they are not able to attend, an alternate winner will be selected. Confirmation of attendance will take place following the judging process in late November.

• Winners are expected to participate in the NYSE Bell Ringing Ceremony on February 25, 2008.

• Winners will receive the traditional CECP Tiffany crystal globe award. CECP will work with companies to identify press opportunities.
