Mother asks, ‘What did you learn today?’

-----------------------

There was an epic dance on March 27, 2015. LMS Held the Glow Dance! They had something different-COTTON CANDY!!!!! Students had sticky faces on the dance floor.

The dance included wacky and fun activities. There was an open gym, snack bar, refreshments, candy, DJ, flashing lights, and not to mention GLOW BRACELETS, NECKLACES, RINGS, AND GLASSES!!!!

The students, who normally don’t dance were on the dance floor. The neon lights made the neon shirts glow wonderfully!

Sadly, this was the last dance of the school year. But the good part is there’s always next year!

I hope you had the opportunity to see the CDMS/LMS Presentation of Bye Bye Birdie in March. It was an awesome show and showcased some of our talented students.

I had the chance to talk to a few of our very own stars.

“What’s the story Morning Glory?” That’s what I asked Savannah Miscik about Bye Bye Birdie. She played Mrs. MacAfee in this Amazing Musical! Her reaction was very happy that she got the lead role. Savannah loved the theme and was very comfortable with her part. She had a great time and said her favorite thing was clicking with the cast. She also “put on a happy face” when she saw the dance moves. Savannah wants to continue doing theater in high school.

“What’s the story Morning Glory?” That’s what I asked Hannah Rhine about her role in Bye Bye Birdie. When she got the role of Mrs. Peterson, she was so excited she started jumping up and down screaming! Hannah liked the musical. She was already in The Wizard of Oz and Cinderella and was happy to be in a play without magic. She also loved singing and dancing with the cast and crew. Hannah is looking forward to being part of the high school musicals next year.

When I asked Brie Bilder, “What’s the story Morning Glory?” she said when she saw that she had gotten a lead she was very excited! She felt accomplished as a sixth grader. Bri really enjoyed being part of the play and she loved the theme of the 50’s musical. She loved the cast and crew. Bri thought they were all so friendly. Singing the songs was fun! She thought the dance moves were a little hard, but if you saw the show you could see how easy she made them look!

“What’s the story Morning Glory?” That’s what I asked 6th grader Eric Belfanti. You could also call him Harvey Johnson. Eric also got to play a boy in the background when he wasn’t Harvey. He loved the theme. He also “put on a happy face” about the dance moves. Eric was very grateful to get a speaking role! He hopes to continue being in the middle school musicals.

I can’t wait for next year’s musical! See you there!

“Marvelous…Unbroken is wonderful twice over, for the tale it tells and from the way it’s told…It manages maximum velocity with no loss of subtlety.” Newsweek

“Unbroken” is the life story of Louie Zamperini. He was an Olympic runner, a WWII fighter, a castaway for forty-seven days, and was then captured by the Japanese. The Japanese were terrible to all the POW’s, especially Louie. They would beat them, starve them, they’d even let them rot. Was Louie going to survive the war? Was Louie ever going to see his family again? Will the “Torrance Tornado” be the same man ever again?

Read “Unbroken” to find out.

Now a major motion picture.

Want to change the country? Do you want to be President or Mayor?

You can do it! Try running for Class President or representative.

First, you need to understand voting. When you vote it gets recorded. You can vote on anything from president to what to have for lunch. Majority rules-which mean the most votes, win.

The most important fact is we vote for our future. It could change our future or our children’s future.

Local elections change your city or town. State elections change a larger area. Federal voting is for the whole country.

You can begin voting when you are 18 years old.

The most important thing to remember is that every vote counts!

Shyness

Avoidable or Permanent?

If you are shy and you want to talk to people this article is for you.

To avoid shyness find a kid in your class you think is cool then wave or say “hi”. If you are too nervous to do then maybe send a text or call them. Sometimes if you aren’t face to face it may be easier.

Then maybe a week or 2 after that you can begin talking in person with small talk. Ask what they are having for lunch. Or what their week-end plans are.

Remember you can do anything if you talk and listen!

The Pennsylvania System of School Assessment (PSSA) is a standardized test administered to public schools in the state of Pennsylvania. Students in grades 3-8 are assessed in reading skills and mathematics. Students in grades 5 and 8 are assessed in writing skills. Students in grades 4 and 8 are also assessed in skills relating to natural science.

The LMS Students were busy testing in the month of April.

It wasn’t all bad. We got a lot of good snacks provided to us by our generous parents. And all of our other classes were shortened with a 2 hour delay.

The best parts of doing the tests are knowing that we are closer to summer vacation!

LMS is a pretty smart school and I know our tests will come back with high scores!

GOOD LUCK!!
