Detox Tea
Hayfever Tea
This is the Spring & Summer version of a basic respiratory tea. Developed to support and protect the normal functioning of the upper respiratory tract, it also has anti-infective properties as well as herbs that specifically help to alleviate the symptoms of hayfever. It is also very useful in the treatment of summer colds and all respiratory tract infections. Pleasant tasting and refreshing, this tea is safe for children to use.
Dose: 1 teaspoon of herb to one mug of boiling water. Allow to stand for 5 minutes, strain and drink. For gentle support, take three mugs each day. During acute need take up to five mugs each day. Sweeten with honey if desired.

Ingredients
Elderflower Sambucus nigra flor.
Because of its many and varied uses and virtues, the Elder is known as the Countrywoman’s Medicine chest. It is used in this tea mix for its abilities to clear congestion in the ears, nose and throat. As a diophoretic, is will also help in the event of a feverish cold.

Eyebright Euphrasia officinalis
A strong astringent with an affinity for the eyes, eyebright helps to tone and strengthen the delicate mucous membranes in the upper respiratory system. These are the tissues that itch and burn and weep in hayfever. Eyebright helps alleviate all these symptoms.

Ground ivy Glechoma hedera
Ground ivy has the reputation for clearing stuck catarrh from the mucous membranes. It is in this tea mix to help clear that awful stuffy clogged feeling associated with hayfever and respiratory tract infections.

Marigold flowers Calendula officinalis
Well known as a wound healer, marigold has many other applications. Its main job in this mix is as a lymphatic cleanser, helping to drain and clear congestion in the upper respiratory tract. It has an affinity for the mucous membranes, and here it helps to heal any slight trauma caused by the assault of hayfever, thus protecting the respirator tract from any passing virus.

Nettle Urtica dioica
This is the stinging nettle, known and carefully avoided by any rambler. It is believed to act as an antihistamine, and thus is of great use in this mix.

Peppermint Mentha piperata
Peppermint is a good allrounder. It is in this mix to open and clear the breath. The familiar taste acts to harmonise the other tastes.
