POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

POSITION: Part-time Adult Education Instructional Aide

North Metro Campus (5198 Ross Road, Acworth, GA 30102)

POSITION DESCRIPTION: Under supervision of the Senior Instructional Aide or Administrative Assistant , support the Adult Education and GED testing staff in a variety of tasks, including assisting in the testing and processing of new students, maintaining student records, entering student data, preparing correspondence, and supporting other teacher requirements. Serve as the first point of contact for students and others who are seeking information regarding Adult Education classes and GED testing. Maintain close and positive working relationships with all departments and campuses of Chattahoochee Technical College. This candidate must offer the highest level of service to all customers—both internal and external to the College. If employed, employment is with Chattahoochee Technical College and not with an individual campus. All employees are subject to work relocation based on college needs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Educational Level: A minimum of a high school or GED diploma.

• Excellent customer service skills.

• Excellent written and oral communications skills.

• Proficiency in MS Office programs, including Word and Excel. Must also be proficient in Internet access and search.

• Strong organizational and time management abilities.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: (In addition to the minimum qualifications)

• One year of college work at a fully accredited college or university

• Experience working in an educational setting

SALARY/BENEFITS: Salary is $10.00 per hour for approximately 16 hours per week. There are no State of Georgia benefits associated with this position.

Job Description, Responsibilities, Standards, and Qualifications

Job Description:

Under supervision of the Senior Instructional Aide or Administrative Assistant, successfully respond to and manage a high volume of call-in and walk-in traffic. This position is the first point of contact for students and others who are seeking assistance and information regarding Adult Education classes and GED testing. Assist teachers and GED testing staff with a variety of tasks associated with testing, student registration and orientation, and word processing support. Perform data entry and prepare various documents and correspondence as required. Organize, file, and maintain documents. Serve as a notary for the purpose of processing student eligibility documents. Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Responsibilities & Performance Standards:

1. Provides information to students and the public.

1. Regularly handles requests a variety of requests for adult education and GED testing information.

2. Keeps current on class and testing schedules as well as policies and procedures.

3. Compiles information for future use by students, staff, and the general public according to guidelines.

4. Responds to questions and concerns from students and the general public with accurate and complete information and does so in a courteous and professional manner.

2. Facilitates student success in the educational process by assisting teachers with student intake, assessment, registration, and orientation.

1. Assists teachers in the administration of standardized tests and performs other tasks as required in support of classroom requirements.

2. Prepares and maintains student registration, enrollment, and other documents.

3. Maintains confidentiality of student information.

4. Becomes proficient in the Banner System and develops a working knowledge of the Georgia Adult Learner Information System.

3. Maintains current knowledge of TCSG-OAE policies and procedures.

1. Becomes proficient in researching information on the TCSG-OAE website and becomes familiar with the contents of the Adult Education Policy and Procedure Administrative Manual.

2. Participates in department staff development training.

4. Displays a high level of effort and commitment to performing work; operates effectively within the organizational structure; demonstrates trustworthiness and responsible behavior.

1. Demonstrates eagerness to learn and assume responsibility; seeks out and accepts increased responsibility. 2. Shows persistence and seeks useful alternatives; does things before being asked or forced to by events.

3. Works within the system in a resourceful manner to accomplish reasonable work goals; shows flexibility in response to change and adapts to and accommodates new methods and procedures.

4. Accepts direction and feedback from supervisors and follows through appropriately.

5. Works when scheduled; begins and ends work as expected; calls in according to policy when arriving late for work or when absent; observes provisions of Fair Labor Standards Act; observes policies on break and lunch periods; uses work time appropriately.

Minimum Qualifications:

Educational Level: A high school or GED diploma. Proficient in Windows-based software and Internet access/search.

Preferred Qualifications: (In addition to the minimum qualifications)

• One year of college work at a fully accredited college or university.

• Experience working in an educational setting with faculty and students.
