Go to the PDE website at: education.state.pa.us

Under "I would like to..." click on Access TIMS (Certification Application System).

When you click on "Access TIMS" you will be required to log in. If you have never logged into the PDE website, you must register. To register you will need to know your PPID (Personal Professional ID) number that was assigned to you when you became certified.

PPID (Professional Personnel ID) This is a unique number that is created by PDE for every certified teacher. If you do not know what your PPID number is, please contact Tina Fair.

Paper Documents to Verify Information Certain documents are still required by PDE to process your application, for example: "official" transcripts when applying for level II certification, a copy of a marriage certificate for a name change, etc.

When you submit an application through the TIMS portal you will receive a notification of any verifying documents that are needed. You will need to continue to send these documents to PDE.

District Verification Certain applications will require district verification. If you have applied to make any changes to your certificate, please contact Tina Fair, to let her know that you have an application waiting for district approval. No notifications are sent to the district by PDE when you create an application.

If you add certifications, or make name changes, please be sure to send a copy of your new certificate to Tina Fair.

NOTE: It is your responsibility to continue checking the portal to see if your application has been approved, or if additional information is needed by the district or PDE. Questions regarding the status of your application must be submitted to PDE via the TIMS help desk.
