There are TExES? exams for Every Content Area, and there is an exam to measure your Pedagogical Knowledge

? The TExES Pedagogy and Professional Responsibilities EC-12 Exam).

The TExES Exams were developed and based on... ? The Texas Educator Standards for New Teachers ? what new

teachers should know when they enter the field of teaching. Most certification areas require two (2) exams:

State of Texas Teacher Certification Exam Requirements

Additional TExES Exam Information

? The minimum passing score on any exam is 240. The highest possible score is 300.

? You must aim HIGH to reach your passing score!

? TEA allows candidates a total of five (5) attempts to take and pass each exam.

? HOWEVER, the Whitlowe R. Green College of Education Educator Preparation Program is held accountable by TEA to ensure that ALL candidates pass EACH exam by NO MORE THAN the second (2nd) attempt!

? Passing your exam on the 1st, or 2nd attempt can move you up in a school district's hiring process!

? Candidates who pass exams early are also offered jobs sooner, often before graduation!

? Provided you with a general outline of how to start the studying process ? what materials and resources to use first, second, third, etc.

? Ensure that you understand how to use the study programs, and other resources effectively.

? Provide feedback on your preparation and progress after a Certify Teacher Test Session (by appointment).

? Provide individual Study Plans, as needed. ? Share information about your test preparation and progress with

your instructors and advisors so that they can also support you.

WHAT IS YOUR ROLE IN THIS PROCESS?

To immediately develop your own personal Timeline for Success ? from now until the end of this semester, OR, from now until graduation! To develop a study plan and follow it! To complete all course assignments. ? To utilize all test preparation resources that are provided, and as instructed. ? To exercise integrity in the use of all provided materials and resources. ? To attend all Test Sessions as scheduled, as long as the directions apply to you. ? To attend Review Sessions, and utilize Review Session Videos, as offered, and as recommended. ? To understand that once you reach a goal, that does not mean that you are finished! ? To understand that test prep continues up until the day that you take your exam! ? To accept all constructive feedback from the program.
