LETTERS

LETTER ASSIGNMENT #1

Look carefully at the example above. Now it's your turn!

Letters can be written for a variety of reasons:

• applying for a job

• resigning from a job

• a complaint for bad service at a store

• a thank-you letter after an interview

• a thank-you letter to a customer/client

• sending your opinion to a company about a new product

• telling a company your opinion about a new advertisement

• telling your teacher about an idea you have for a ‘Fun Friday’

Choose one of the above reasons and get started!

You are going to write a full block with 2 point punctuation letter.

If you choose a letter to a company, make sure the company exists! You may need to go onto the internet to find the company’s address.

The letter should be a reasonable length with at least three paragraphs.  Leave enough room for your signature.

Finally, go to File, Page Setup, Layout and choose Center for your vertical alignment.  This will centre the text on your page.  Save in your Word folder as “Letter # 1”.

N.B.: You may not be including an enclosure so you can skip that part. You also do not need to put in typists initials since you're doing your own letter.

Good luck!
