A book-talk by LO

"Hatred is blind; rage ferries you away; and he who pours out vengeance runs the risk of tasting a bitter draught" -Franz

This quote gives a good taste of the Classic that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Written for Young Adults, this novel will pull you into a world of riches, lies, and revenge.

If you liked The Adventures of Tom Sawyer or Les Mis?rables, then this book is for you. I would recommend The Count of Monte Cristo to anyone who enjoys reading adventure novels, classics, historical fiction, or even romance.

Edmond Dantes lives Marseilles, a bustling port city on the Mediterranean Sea. Dantes is soon to become the captain of a ship, but he is unfairly cast into a prison after a strange trial. His rage is left to ferment, and a plan begins to form.

Will Dantes retain his thoughtful nature and kind hand? Or will he get caught up in an angry tirade? Will he manage to find his true love again or will his roiling emotions burry his love?

I rated this intriguing book 4 stars. I enjoyed it because of the way the plot twists and turns. I loved the excitement and the characters as well as the way in which they are described. I didn't rate it higher because it is written in old English so difficult to understand at certain points.

On Goodreads this book is rated 4.26 stars with 766,166 ratings and 22,206 reviews.

"How did I escape? With difficulty. How did I plan this moment? With pleasure."

-Dantes
