AUDITION GUIDE - PETER PANPeter Pan features a robust cast of beloved ensemble characters; Pirates, Lost Boys, and Neverland Natives are the mainstay of this timeless production. ?Peter Pan ?is great for young performers to have a unique experience where they can explore and create memorable characters as an ensemble, developing invaluable skills to grow as an actor. ABOUT Peter Pan--? Adapted from the ?1954 Broadway production (? not the? ?Disney version?), is based on J.M. Barrie's classic tale and features a memorable score by Morris "Moose" Charlap and Jule Styne with lyrics by Carolyn Leigh and Betty Comden and Adolph Green. SYNOPSIS Peter and his mischievous fairy sidekick, Tinkerbell, visit the nursery of the Darling children late one night and, with a sprinkle of pixie dust, begin a magical journey across the stars that none of them will ever forget. In the adventure of a lifetime, the travelers come face to face with a ticking crocodile, a fierce native tribe, a band of villainous pirates and, of course, the treacherous Captain Hook. DIRECTOR'S NOTESNeverland Natives-- Parts of this adaptation have been respectfully updated from the original 1954 production. The “Indians” in Neverland are referred to as the Neverland Natives. The story will be told as scripted, with minor adjustments to support the roles of Tiger Lily and the Neverland Natives. Tinkerbell-- The Neverland fairy appears in the show as a flittering light on the stage. Tinker Bell's “voice” is expressed in the story by a bell sound effect. Tinker Bell will not be cast as an individual part, though our youngest performers will be cast as a group of “tinkerbell fairies” that prance and dance throughout Neverland. Roles/Casting-YSMT believes in showcasing as many children as possible. With that, we would like to double cast as many roles as we can in order to give more children a chance at a speaking/singing role. Sensory Friendly Performance- Sensory-friendly performances are designed to create a performing arts experience that is welcoming to all families with children with autism or with other disabilities that create sensory sensitivities. For this production we would like to offer a sensory friendly performance. The cast will be required to take a brief sensory friendly advisory session in order to better understand the requirements for this performance.
