Word of the Week-Self Talk
Monday- you will teach your child about self talk. “Self-talk” means saying things quietly to yourself. Using self-talk helps your child stay focused and learn at school and at home.
Tuesday- you will show the poster of children Tony and Olivia to your child (at the end of the lesson plan). [pic]The teacher asked them to clean up. Who is listening to the teacher? What is Olivia doing to help her remember to clean up? She using self-talk. How? By singing the cleaning up song she is remembering and focuses on what she needs to do.
W- Today you will play a game to use self-talk. Say an action to your child, and then tell them to repeat it and then do it. Repeat this game numerous times. Remember your child needs to repeat the action before they do it.
TH-Today you will play a pattern game. For example you will say red, blue, red, blue and have your child repeat it, using self-talk, and then continue the pattern. You can play this pattern game using shapes or any objects.
