This is the meaning of the law of Moses and the teaching of the prophets” Matthew 7:12InvocationDear Heavenly Father, You created all people, and You created us differently for Your reasons and purpose. She was born in Huntsville, Alabama in1871. Mrs. Clinton was the wife of Bishop George Wylie Clinton. She loved children and, having none of her own, she dedicated her life to children’s work. She understood the importance of Christian training for very young children. Mrs. Clinton worked diligently to see that children be included as part of the General Missionary Society. In 1904, her request to include the children as an organized department of the Missionary Society was taken to the General Conference in St. Louis, Missouri. It was then that the department was adopted and, through her efforts, became permanently known as the “Buds of Promise” department in 1908. Mrs. Clinton served as the General Superintendent for 28 years (until 1932) and remained an enthusiastic worker until her death in1934.In 1951, the Missionary Convention in Wilmington, North Carolina voted that a day be set aside in order to honor the founder of The Buds of Promise Department. Because of Mrs. Marie L. Clay Clinton’s love and devotion to children and work of missions, the fourth Sunday of January is recognized as “Marie L. Clinton Day.Globally Committed to Environmental Stewardship“Who Can Save Our World?”Stewardship is taking care of and being responsible for the world around us and we as children can do our part. The world is a scary place right now. Pandemics and disease are taking over the way we live, animals are becoming extinct, plastic and toxins are polluting our water and the earth’s atmosphere is changing. What can we as Buds of Promise do to fix this mess? The earth and everything in it belong to The Lord. The world and all its people belong to Him. Psalm 24:1 Everything we see, feel, hear, drink, eat, and smell belong to God. We made nothing. Everything belongs to God. He allows us to use what He created. He created a beautiful earth, sky, seas, animals, plants, and food. What have we done to it? Are we recycling or are we rebelling and being wasteful? Do we pick up paper when we see it on the ground or do we just say “I didn’t put it there”? God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number: fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.” Genesis 1:28 God wants us to protect the beautiful things. He created humans to rule, keep the environment safe and free from pollution, and chemical hazards. We should grow fresh vegetables and plant gardens. God expects us to take care of the world He created for us. Just as he told Adam and Eve when He created the Garden of Eden. Now it is required that those who have been given a trust must be faithful. 1 Corinthians 4:2 God expects us to take care of His world, His planet, His universe. So let’s plant gardens and eat food that is cooked at home. We should eat fresh vegetables and limit eating fast foods, sugar, soda and food dyes. We should turn off the television and put down the video games and study, read our bibles, put God’s words in our hearts, recycle and reuse. Let’s get healthy, walk, exercise, ride a bike, volunteer. If you want to be a good steward of the environment, remember it all belongs to God so take care of what you have. Little becomes much when you put it in God’s hands. Now breathe in and out, keep God’s air pure, keep your words pure. Clean up, garbage belongs in the trash not on the floor. Open your bible and read. God has something to tell you. #Budsaregloballycommitted#EnvironmentalStewardship?Marie L.
