SEEDS Residents Celebrate Three Kings Day At Yankee Stadium

On Friday, January 4th, more than 40 residents from six of the Department's non-secure detention group homes participated in a Three Kings Day celebration at historic Yankee Stadium.

The event, sponsored by The Hispanic Bronx Chamber of Commerce in conjunction with the New York Yankees, granted the Department's youth the opportunity to visit the world famous stadium, enjoy a hearty lunch, and receive gifts as part of the festivities.

Bronx Assembly District 80 Assemblywoman Naomi Rivera and the Hispanic Bronx Chamber of Commerce Chairman, Frank Garcia, shared inspiring words of wisdom with the youth in attendance.

Chairman Garcia summed up the event, saying, "We at the Hispanic Bronx Chamber of Commerce use the Three Kings Day celebration as a way to give back to the community's youth. As the birth of Jesus in the Three Kings story signifies a positive new beginning, we hope that bodes as well for the youth at DJJ."

The event concluded with Commissioner Hernandez, Assemblywoman Rivera, Chairman Garcia, and three Hostos Community College student volunteers dressed as the Three Kings handing out gifts donated by Puerto Rico's Kay Bee Toys, Inc. to the gracious youth.
