Information for Patients – Re-titration of oxygen for Long Term Oxygen Therapy (LTOT)

You have been asked to attend the department to re-assess your oxygen requirements. This is to ensure your respiratory condition is stable.

On the day of your appointment

Please bring this letter with you and arrive 10 minutes prior to your appointment time. There are disabled parking and drop off spaces directly outside the department but note that car parking space is limited so please allow plenty of time for this.

You will be asked about your medication so please bring a list with you.

PLEASE TAKE ALL MEDICATION AS NORMAL.

The appointment will take approximately 2 hours.

You may be asked to perform a simple breathing test and a sample of blood will be taken from your ear lobe while you are on your current oxygen level to ensure your condition is stable. If the level of oxygen in your blood is not correct then the amount of oxygen you receive will be altered and further blood samples will be taken to ensure you are receiving the correct level of oxygen. A walk test may also be performed to assess your ambulatory oxygen needs when performing any activities that result in exertion.

If you require any further information regarding this appointment please call the Physiology team on 01782 675456
