Information for Patients –Long Term Oxygen Therapy (LTOT) Assessment part 2
You have been asked to attend the department to assess your oxygen levels to see if you require Long Term Oxygen Therapy.
You may be asked to perform a simple breathing test and a sample of blood will be taken from your ear lobe. If the level of oxygen in your blood is low then you will be put on some oxygen in the department and further blood samples will be taken to ensure you are receiving the correct level of oxygen. A walk test may also be performed to assess your ambulatory oxygen needs when performing any activities that result in exertion.
On the day of your appointment
Please bring this letter with you and arrive 10 minutes prior to your appointment time. There are drop off spaces directly outside the main building but note that car parking space is limited so please allow plenty of time for this.
You will be asked about your medication so please bring a list with you.
PLEASE TAKE ALL MEDICATION AS NORMAL.
The appointment will take approximately 2 hours.
