Finance:8.1.Report on VE Day Costs It was reported that the costs incurred remained within budget.8.2.Clerks Costs so far Up to the time of the meeting the Clerk’s hours were 5? hours (from 16/03/20 to 27/05/20). 5? x ?12 = ?66.00. Pauline was asked to invoice the Parish Council at the end of May. Cllr. Nick Hammond to confirm hours and raise Payment Request.8.3.Banking Arrangements It was reported that access to online banking was still available via Cllr. Shirley Lockwood’s link. This is to be maintained until clarity received from NatWest. Cllr. Nick Hammond, Cllr. Shirley Lockwood and Pauline Ryan to monitor and report. 8.4.Statement of Accounts for Approval Accounts for February and March have been circulated to all Councillors for comment and approval.Matters for Consideration: War Memorial Planning.It is planned to start work on the War Memorial when the Utility Search is completed. The work will be completed by September and will be opened on Remembrance Sunday, November 8th. Some of the plans for VE Day that could not be undertaken because of the Lockdown will now take place over Remembrance Weekend. There will be no VJ Day commemorations.Cllr. Sarah Bailey asked for nominations for an award for volunteer work undertaken during the Covid crisis. Councillor Reports:Cllr. Annabel HolmesCllr Holmes thanked everyone concerned that made VE Day such a success and suggested a celebration drink when the current crisis is over.She mentioned that an Orston resident is considering taking over the lease of the Deli and has put out a questionnaire on the Facebook page and suggested that everyone should respond to the survey and it was suggested that the link to the questionnaire would be put in the Bulletin.Cllr. Gerry McMahonCllr. McMahon seconded the thanks to everyone for the VE Day celebrations and thanked Will, John and Shirley for putting in so much hard work to make the day a success.Cllr. Shirley LockwoodThere are many trees in the village that are overgrown with ivy and John Lockwood has volunteered to kill off the ivy which prevents the trees from growing properly.Cllr. Lockwood raised the problem of the cars which had been photographed going down to the pits. She thanked Lyn Churcher and Pauline Ryan for clearing up the rubbish left by the fishermen. The gates have now been closed more tightly to prevent vehicular access and a notice displayed on the gates informing the public that the ponds are private property and vehicle access on the bridleway is forbidden.She also asked if there were any items for the Bulletin and there were suggestions for VE Day photos, face mask production and asking for considerate parking for agricultural machinery during harvest time.Cllr. Robin Iliffe Cllr. Iliffe asked if cyclists were permitted on the bridleway and it was agreed that they were allowed as long as they were pedal cycles and not motorcycles. Horses, walkers and cyclists are all permitted on the bridleway.Cllr. Nick HammondCllr. Hammond commented that the Council had been contacted by ROSPA to arrange the annual inspection of the playground and will liaise with the School and the Playground Association accordingly.Cllr Will GunnCllr. Gunn also commented on the VE Day weekend saying that there was a good atmosphere with good weather and that 90% of the village got involved and said that it will go down in history. He said that John and Shirley were the driving force and thanked everyone involved in the planning of the event.Orston School will open again on 8th June for Year 1 and Year 6 with limited class sizes.He also said that the WhatsApp Orston Village Chat was a really good thing and that it had kept everyone informed during the crisis.Cllr. Gunn asked Pauline if she was happy with taking on the Parish Clerk vacancy and agreed that she should be adopted as Joint Parish Clerk with Cllr. Nick Hammond.Items for Next Meeting: Nothing at present.
