Elaborate floats, marching bands, and giant helium-filled balloons fill the streets of St. Louis for the annual St. Patrick's Day Parade. The parade steps off at noon from 18th and Market Streets and proceeds east on Market to Broadway and then south on Broadway where it will disband at the site of the proposed Ball Park Village. The 9 a.m. five-mile Michelob ULTRA run precedes the parade which begins at 9th and Market streets in downtown St. Louis and finishes in front of St. Louis Union Station.

Runners of all ages and abilities are welcome.

Irish abounds before, during and after the St. Patrick's Day Parade at the Irish Village, an entertainment area featuring food and beverages from Hilton at the Ballpark, Seven Gables Inn, and Molly Darcy's, Irish merchandise for sale, free family activities, and three live bands. Main stage entertainment: Roundstone Buskers (1:30-3:30 p.m.), Elevation (3:30-4:30 p.m.), and Rough Ryders (4:30-6:30 p.m.). The Children's stage will offer entertainment including professional sports team mascots, Irish Dancers, cheerleaders, face painting, Coca Mob dancers, and much more.

92nd Annual Orchid Show

Date: now - 3/28/2010

Location: Missouri Botanical Garden

Cost: Show admission is $5, in addition to regular Garden

admission ($8 adults, $4 St. Louis City and County residents, free children ages 12 and under). Garden members are free.

Experience the color, beauty and fragrance of orchids in bloom in the middle of winter. The show features a lush indoor garden of French-inspired, curvilinear design, resplendent with up to 800 fresh-blooming orchids. The Orchid Show is the only time of year that the Garden’s historic collection is made

available for public viewing as a group.

Throughout the duration of the eight-week show, orchids will be continually rotated out and replaced with fresh blooms as different cultivars come into flower, offering new sights and smells.

This exhibition uncovers important St. Louis musicians, songs and blue music styles that have influenced our musical heritage, including jazz, rhythm and blues, soul, rock and roll, hip hop and a continually evolving blues tradition. The St. Louis blues tradition has shaped the music of artists from Clark Terry, Miles Davis and Ike and Tina Turner to Johnnie Johnson, Chuck Berry and Nelly.
