Changing Color Schemes of a Room

PART 1

1. Go to the Better Homes and Garden website

Type in address bar:

2. Top right of screen click Join the website:

Click on “Create Account”

Fill in all fields with *

Use your username and password from your school

google account

3.Click on the following link to start “Color A Room”



Click on the “Get Now”

4. Step 1: Click on the “Rooms” button

5. Step 2: Pick a photo. Click on one of the rooms.

6. Step 3: Start Painting. Choose your colors to paint the room with.

Notice that there are 5 different places to paint: Trim, Ceiling, Wall 1, wall 2, and Wall 3. These areas may change with the room. There may be beams or flooring.

Then choose your colors

PART 2 : LIVING ROOM COLOR SCHEMES

1. Create a cool color scheme for your living room. Save as “Cool”

2. Change the walls from light to medium and then to a dark value. View how the room’s appearance changes based on the value of the paint on the wall. Save the different color values using a different name each time.

Ex: “Cool Light Value”, “Cool Med Value”, and “Cool Dark Value”

3. Create a warm color scheme for your living room. Save as “Warm”

4. Change the walls from light to medium and then to a dark value. View how the room’s appearance changes based on the hue’s value of the paint on the wall. Save the 3 rooms again.

Ex: “Warm Light Value”, “Warm Med Value”, and “Warm Dark Value”

5. Change the palette color to “Neutrals” and create a Neutral color scheme for your living room. Save this room as “Neutral”.

6. You now should have 7 rooms saved. PRINT ONE OF THESE 7 ROOMS.

7. Print

A. Use the Print button and print to printer B225-C

Your page should look like this:

B. Use Command/Shift/4 and drag the crosshairs from the upper left corner of the room to

the lower right corner of the room. Check your Downloads under your House for a screen print.

Open the screen print and print to B225-C.

Your picture will look something like this:

PART 3 : BEDROOM COLOR SCHEMES

1. Click “Choose a Room”; Select the Bedroom you want to use and then begin painting

2. Create an Analogous, Complementary, Triadic and an Accented Neutral color scheme

Save as: “Analogous”, “Complementary”, “Triadic”, and Accented Neutral”.

3. Print 1 of the saved Bedroom Rooms on the Color Printer using the directions on page 5 – 6.
