General Specification 5,000 GVWR, Single Axel, Single Tote Firefighting Foam Trailer with Manual Monitor.

Trailer and firefighting appliances to be TFT, NF, OR EQUAL NFPA compliant.

Frame: Trailer frame will form an integrated hold-down system with a four-inch formed angle steel frame for mounting liquid tanks, supporting the fender assemblies, and mounting the axle. The frame shall hold the liquid tanks by bolt-in brackets at the lowest center of gravity possible for stability. Frame assembly is completely electrically welded for strength and rigidity.

Removable Tung: A steel 4” x 4” square tube shall be held in with two ⅝” pins and a grade 8 bolt for vertical stability when towing. The tung shall slide out and wiring un-plug for easy storage under the trailer frame. The storage footprint for the trailer shall not exceed 90” x 90” with the tung removed.

Chock Storage: Steel channel, welded to frame on each side of totes, in front of each fender to provide storage area for the wheel chocks.

Axles: One tubular 5,000 lb. axle, with a capacity of 5,000 lb. axle shall have cab operated electric brakes.

Wheels and Tires: Two highway tread, radial tires mounted on eight-lug drop center, stamped steel disc wheels with stainless steel wheel simulator covers. Combined wheel and tire load rating is matched to the axle capacity.

Brakes: Electric drum-type self adjusting brakes, including control unit for installation on towing vehicle where specified. Trailer braking system is actuated automatically by an electrical interface with the towing vehicle braking system. Breakaway brake protection is provided by an automatic switch connected to the trailer hitch. A 12 volt battery is mounted on the trailer to provide backup for the breakaway safety system.

Hitch: Heavy duty 2-5/16”, 10,000 lb. ball hitch, including two safety chains shall be mounted on the drawbar.

Fender Assemblies: Fender assemblies shall be constructed of steel channel, welded over the wheels. Fenders shall be capable of holding 500 lb. Each.

Highway Lighting/Reflectors: Trailer is equipped with rear lights, marker lights and reflectors in accordance with U. S. Federal Motor Vehicle & NFPA 1901 Safety Standards. All lights to be LED.

Ground & Operator’s Station Lights: Two twelve-volt, LED (6” oval) lights to be located at rear as back-up lighting, powered from tow vehicle and a 12 volt, standalone battery back-up. The lighting array shall include a clear LED spot light at two outer corner of the totes independently switched and fused for stand alone operation.

Electrical Connector: A 7-pin polarized (RV) connector is located at the hitch for connecting the trailer lights and brakes to the towing vehicle.

Wiring: All wiring shall be water proof, heat-shrink, but-spliced in loom and or steel conduit.

Stabilizing Jacks: Screw-type 5,000 lb. capacity dual wheeled jack is mounted on the drawbar. Four 5000 lb. front and rear stabilization jacks (left & right) on each corner.

FINISH:

Primer: Ferrous metal parts prepared and primed before assembly.

Finish:

Frame/Axle/Wheels Red polyurethane enamel (farm implement UV rated).

Safety Tread Plate Steel platform, red polyurethane enamel (farm implement UV rated).

Aluminum, mill finish.

Reflective Stripe: Reflective stripe is applied to the sides and rear of the trailer as required by the latest NFPA 1901 Safety Standards.

FOAM CONCENTRATE TANKS:

Capacity: 330 U.S. Gallons minimum: (1) 330 gallon tote; Each tote will have 2.0” manual ball valve discharge control and connected to a common foam header via a flexible hose. Includes 330 gal of AR=AFFF foam per spec:

Must be available in 5 gal pails, 55 gal drums, 275 gal totes and bulk if required.

Company must have a 24 hour emergency hotline for product and assistance.

Must be able to be used in fresh and seawater.

Bidder shall have 500 gallon stock and supply capabilities for 24/7 emergency

delivery.

Training must be available through the manufacturer.

TANK VENTS: Totes shall have automatic pressure/vacuum vents capable of 60 gpm draw-down, with no deformation of the tank bottles(s).

NAMEPLATES: Laminated plastic furnished on all valves and controls as required for operation of the trailer. Nameplate language English.

TANK LOCK DOWN SYSTEM: Integrated style lock down system and stainless steel skid strips shall provided for rapid load and unloading of tote from the trailer using forklift or crane. Bolt-in retaining plates (0.25” steel) and or lock-bar are designed to hold the tote in place during rough road transport while offering quick release pull pins that release steel lock-bars for unloading.

STORAGE COMPARTMENTS

Left 60 L x 18” H x 18” Aluminum diamond plate, weather-resistant storage box, with side door access.

Right 60 L x 18” H x 18” Aluminum diamond plate, weather-resistant storage box, with side door access.

WATER AND FOAM CONCENTRATE PLUMBING

Bolted clamp style, 5” square tube manifold and appliance riser. Manifold riser shall be capable of 1000 lb. nozzle thrust at 40” off deck. Water manifold shall be pressure tested to 750 psi. Water manifold shall have an integrated pressure relief valve set at 200 psi. Two-inch white letters on 3” black vinyl labels, (“200 PSI MAX”) shall be located on the water manifold.

WATER RISER INTAKES & DISCHARGES: Two, 2.5” NH Female intake valves w/plugs shall be provided on left and right sides of riser tube. One 3” slow close gate valve shall be provided under the monitor. Three capped 2.5” pipe nipples shall be installed on the riser for future additional equipment, one forward facing, one left and one right.

Foam Concentrate Manifold:Four, one-inch, male cam-lock foam concentrate connections shall be located behind water riser for easy connections to foam eductors and foam monitor nozzles. Two, valved, two-inch transfer pump connection shall be located at left & right side of forward foam concentrate manifold, labeled “Foam Concentrate”. Manifold shall be capable of 45 gpm concentrate throughput.

All plumbing, hoses, valves or pumps in contact with foam concentrate shall be of a material which is impervious to Class A, AFFF and AR-AFFF foam concentrates. Valves to be brass or stainless. All hose connections shall be securely fastened using stainless steel, Bandit Brand or equal clamps.

Auxiliary Pick-up Hose: A 10’ pick-up hose shall be provided for use with foam nozzles, foam eductors, or to pick-up foam concentrate from pails, drums or other totes. Pick-up hose will also be used for training with training foam or water.

Flush Provision: A fresh water flush system shall be incorporated in foam concentrate supply manifold. Flush feature shall be capable of flushing all firefighting appliances.

FOAM / WATER MONITOR

Foam/Water Monitor: (1) TFT, Hurricane manual monitor with hand-wheel elevation control and

tiller rotation control with rotational lock, mounted on a 5” square tube riser. Pressure gauge with

operational range (liquid filled, 0-300 psi) will be provided on monitor tops as well as on riser tubes.

Foam Nozzle Performance:

One TFT, Masterfoam 500 gpm, self-educting nozzle with LX Foamjet aerating attachment, 1-6% metering discs for nozzle. Manages up to 5,000 sq. ft. diesel fuel spill fire, or 2500 sq. ft. ethanol spill fire. A firefighting performance chart shall be provided which includes stream range(s), maximum fire size(s) for both hydrocarbon and polar solvent fires - spill or in-depth.

SUPPLIED FOAM CONCENTRATE TRANSFER ITEMS:

Portable Electric Foam Pump: One (1) 23 gpm, 120 volt, TEFC enclosed, self priming, portable foam concentrate transfer pump kit will be provided. Kit includes 24’ (6 M) – 2” (50.8 mm) suction hose, (2) 50” transfer wands (stingers). Pump will have control switch located on pump as well as RF electric remote control.

THIS TRANSFER PUMP SYSTEM MUST BE ALCOHOL RESISTANT FOAM FRIENDLY. USING NO P.R.V.-RECIRCULATION ACCOMMODATION.

Threads: U. S. National Standard Hose Thread.

Operator’s Training One (1) day training will be conducted at the customers facility at the time of

delivery. Training includes:

A. Trailer safety: loading, hitching, towing and stabilizing.

B. Foam fire fighting equipment operation, care, maintenance and concentrate transfer

C. PowerPoint presentation and video on safe operating practices.

D. Foam technician training which includes foam proportioning and application basics

Manuals: One Operation/Maintenance and Parts manual must be supplied with the trailer, English language. One CD containing all manual and spare parts components.

Operator’s Manual: One ring binder containing operation, care and maintenance for all supplied firefighting equipment and relates accessories.

Supplied firefighting equipment: Covered by individual manufacturer’s warranty for no less than five

years.
