The telecommunication company expects to launch the new IPTV service in the second half of 2012 and delivery innovative services, providing users with an outstanding TV experience. ?Oi's strategy for the IPTV launch is based on market research that has identified a demand for this service across 20 cities from all regions of the country, in addition to the previously announced Rio de Janeiro and Belo Horizonte. The launch will be carried out in a gradual way, with the names of additional cities to be provided at a later date. Also as part of the initiative, Oi has been investing in the implementation of a new network of optical fiber that will connect customer's residences and will offer extremely high-speed Internet access, as well as landline telephone service.?"The launch of the IPTV service will benefit customers because it provides a more interactive and comprehensive TV experience. Also, IPTV results in income generation for the company through the provision of value-added services, such as video on demand (VOD). With new pay-TV service, Oi strengthens its converging offer strategy," says Oi's Segment director, Eduardo Aspesi.?Much more interactive than the pay-TV services currently offered in the Brazilian market, Oi's IPTV service will allow users to have access to content via tablets, smartphones and PCs. This technology also results in a range of facilities that make the TV a more comprehensive and attractive service for the most varied consumer profiles. With IPTV, users are able to watch videos on demand (VOD), "go back in time" and watch a program that has already been broadcast (‘catch up’ TV), interact through their social networks, and record programs with all access points in the house.?“Alcatel-Lucent and Oi share a common vision of the value the network can provide to consumers, enterprises and society in terms of increased access to information, productivity and economic growth,” said Osvaldo Di Campli, Leader of Alcatel-Lucent’s activities in the Caribbean and Latin America.? “This collaboration on IPTV is the latest example of how our two companies are delivering on this vision to enable consumers and enterprises to experience a wide range of services through a single, converged network offering.”?“Through the use of the Microsoft Mediaroom platform, Oi’s next-generation IPTV services are poised to entertain millions of consumers across Brazil, across a range of devices, whether at home or on the go,” says Cristina Palmaka, diretora de canais para o consumidor da Microsoft Brasil. ................
