Meet the Fleet - Town Council has added new and used maintenance vehicles from Lincoln County and NM grants.

Town Council News

Audience participation included

• A request for blading 14th and 17th east and south ( Gary Loveless), and eventual improvements

• Delisting Cimarron dump site, and 1/17-1/18 agency meetings (Buddy Henderson)

• Rural addressing according to Lincoln County emergency ordinances missing from homes

Additional discussion and announcements were

• On line utility bill payment system at town hall, investigation and consideration to be revisited later

• A 25 year certificate was awarded to Leann Weihbrecht for her service as Town Clerk

• Installation of 3.2 megawatt solar farm by OCEC 8 miles east on Hwy 380

• Application to NM Colonias Infrastructure Board leading to grants

• Annual Open Meetings Resolution

• P&Z for trailer at 1502 Jasmine Street

Police – Thomas Gavin is the new Chief of Police. One patrolman has retired and another has left the department; replacement recruiting is ongoing.

CWI – Ray Dean reported on Festival planning, library developments, wind energy certification classes for 80+ at ENMU, and the 1/18/18 6pm meeting this month. Windmill construction starts in Ancho in the spring according to forecasts. Total build out is supposed to be 1400. So far 454 construction contracts are in play.

Chamber of Commerce, Lincoln County Historical Society - Gwen Rogers reported a new year focus on business and attracting new residents. There will be a spring LCHC History Event on 4/28/18.

GSWA – if you need a polycart contact town hall or Ray Dean. Recycling challenges will be discussed at next month’s meeting.

Carrizozo Public Library & Archive – Diane Dean reported 2,392 volunteer hours for the year 2017, plus 2 internet computers and free Wi-Fi for public use.  Homework help now, every Wednesday for grades 5-12 plus, fundraising Mardi Gras event on Saturday 2/10/18.

Carrizozo Youth Sports – Fran Altiere reported 80+ children registered for league basket ball starting on 2/13/18. There is a raffle for a cord of wood ongoing. The solarization of the pool is in planning and start up stages.

Carrizozo Music – 1/22/18 cello concert, 4/8/18 fundraiser event pending.
