KEYNOTE ADDRESS: “Music Matters: Educating the Next Generation in Math and Science”

Dr. Gordon L. Shaw, Physics & Astronomy, UC Irvine

PANEL DISCUSSION: A discussion of the concerns and responsibilities of modern approaches to science and its teaching. Scientists, science educators and science teachers will reflect on their individual responsibilities.

NETWORKING & POSTERS: Meet new and old colleagues; welcome pre-service teachers; learn about other opportunities for professional development.

WORKSHOPS: Suitable for teachers of all grade levels. Tentative titles include: BATS - Not just for Halloween Anymore; Science in the English Language Learning Classroom; Private Eye Strategies; Art and Science Integrated in the Elementary School; High School Students as Docents in the Elementary Classroom; Content Connections across the Disciplines; Mars or Bust - Space Flight and Related Health Issues; Neurosciences in the Classroom; It’s a Bug Eat Bug World; National Board Certification; Resources & Grant Writing; Science Potpourri; Oil Remuneration.

Sign-up for workshops at the conference.

Attendees may register for 1 quarter unit of science credit for an additional $55 and completion of an appropriate lesson plan. Paperwork will be available at the conference.

Pre-registration is requested. You may register by phone or email and pay at the door.

There is a $40.00 cost for the conference which includes breakfast and lunch.
