Union Hill Middle School POSITION DESCRIPTION: Art Program Specialty Coordinator

DEFINITION The Art Program Specialty Coordinator will facilitate the integration of K-8 art enrichment activities for both Union Hill Elementary School and Union Hill Middle School.

DIRECTLY RESPONSIBLE TO The Principal of Union Hill Elementary and Union Hill Middle School

WORK YEAR 181 work days

QUALIFICATIONS Knowledge of the California Department of Education Framework for Visual and Performing Arts. Familiarity with the district's Meet the Masters and Art Docent programs. Knowledge of effective instructional practices in delivering art instruction to students, staff, and parents. Familiarity with a variety of art mediums to promote student engagement in the creative process of artistic expression. Fingerprint clearance by both the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the California Department of Justice is a condition of appointment after all other required job conditions have been met. Ability to lift 25 pounds, move quickly, bend, squat, kneel, and sit on floor. Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to follow district policies and procedures. Ability to work collaboratively with district staff, students, and parents.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Implement the district's Meet the Masters art education program Maintain the Art Room: -monitor and order supplies -oversee the organization and maintenance -oversee the scheduling Coordinate Open House Art Show and Art Auction (Not for 2015/16) Coordinate art program fundraisers (i.e. Silver Graphics) (Not for 2015/16) Coordinate and implement monthly Art Docent workshops Work with teachers to implement grade level art projects Coordinate district participation in the annual NCSOS Art Docent Luncheon Maintain a professional and collegial relationship with district staff, students, parents and with members of the local community.

PROFESSIONAL EVALUATION CRITERIA Yearly evaluation will be based on the abilities of the Art Program Specialty Coordinator to successfully fulfill the activities identified as Duties and Responsibilities.
