• Took the lead for the Americas to manage the merger between two major containerized shipping companies. During this very sensitive time used negotiation and team building skills to put together teams comprising IT and business representatives to gather all available information on applications running in both companies and document all business processes supported. Using this information in discussions with senior management of both companies the strategic IT environment of the new company took shape. Multiple application projects were split out to handle business process and functional streamlining opportunities. At peak we had approximately 75 people both on and offshore on the project and a budget of around $25 million.

• Outlined opportunities for business growth and co-sponsored a number of application redesign projects to support modification of business operational processes and software applications. Saving APL approximately $350,000 per year and allowing benefit of access to new/lucrative markets. Total combined budgets for these projects was approximately $7 million.

• Established IT direction for North Eastern US and Eastern Canada maintaining and overseeing standardization of IT direction for the Americas. Maximizing use of new technologies to fill business needs.

• Managed a number of teams to plan and implement LAN/WAN upgrades, server replacements and where necessary client machine replacements for approximately 400 people in 20 different locations. Leading a team of seven 7 support analysts, my hands on experience in server, network and client setup served well. Network availability went from approximately 80% to 99.8% in 3 months and peak capacity usage went from 100% to an average of 65%.

• Managed a number of large, complex projects to roll out Windows 2000 and subsequently Windows XP and Server 2003. Managed troubleshooting and risk analysis to ensure success. Gave technical leadership to team members and provided performance and career management.
