Motion passed by unanimous vote.Coat DriveHSSEC received donations of $500 from Avatar and $500 from Dot Foods Inc. After communicating with staff at Crete-Monee middle school, we received no response regarding University Park students needing winter coats.After communicating with First Baptist Church and Faith Movers Church, we received no response regarding members needing winter coats.Keisha Kitching motioned and Kari Boykin seconded to have the coat drive donations rolled over to the following year. Motion passed by majority vote.2019 EventsDiane Humes submitted a “draft” Calendar of Events for the year with “suggested” dates, each event will be headed by a subcommittee:U.P.’s Got Talent, April 27, 2019: Location 90 Town center, Chairperson: Diane HumesThe HSSEC will ask the Crete-Monee middle school Principal for the use of the little theater for U.P.’s Got Talent event.Children’s Movie Night, June 28, 2019: Location Golf Course, Chairperson Neva Jenkins, sub-committee: Trustee Paula Wilson, Kari Boykin and Robert TravisFamily Fling and Back to School Festival, August 3, 2019: Chairperson: Robert Travis. This event will be in collaboration with First Baptist Church. The Village/HSSEC will host the Family Fling (Carnival and Fireworks) and First Baptist will host the “Back to School Festival with assistance from HSSEC. The August 3rd date has already been confirmed by First Baptist Church, so HSSEC will use that date as our guide to planning the Family Fling. The entire HSSEC will assist in the planning and execution.Coat Drive, October 26, 2019: Chairperson: Ronda Campbell-Bragg.Annual Christmas Party with Santa, December 14, 2019: Chairperson Keisha Kitching. The entire HSSEC will assist in the planning and execution.Each subcommittee chairperson was asked to submit their budget at the next meeting.The chairperson for all subcommittees is to confirm their event dates and locations by January 25, 2019.Keisha Kitching suggested that each subcommittee chairperson submit a budget within 45 days of the event start date. Mayor Covington suggested having a Christmas dinner party that includes all the Village employees, commissions, and committees. To be determined later. Robert Travis suggested the HSSEC submit a budget for all events going forward.Paula Wilson will contact Donna Detteburn concerning food drive donations.It was suggested that we find people who are donating food to government employees affected by the shutdown and put the info on the village website.
