1. Windows 8 / 8.1 / 10 settings to update

consoles and Terminal.

1.1 WINDOWS 8 / 8.1 / 10 SETTINGS TO UPDATE

CONSOLES.

If you have a PC with Windows 8 / 8.1, you must implement the following two procedures

(described at the par. 1.1.1 and 1.1.2), otherwise the system prevents from copying the updating

files of consoles. In this case the PC is permanently fixed.

If you have a PC with Windows 10, you must implement the following three procedures (described

at the par. 1.1.1, 1.1.2 and 1.1.3), otherwise the system prevents from copying the updating files of

consoles. In this case the PC is permanently fixed.

Otherwise, the alternative and temporary solution (faster than the following procedures) is to reboot

your PC in safe mode condition with network; The laptop loads only the processes necessary to boot

Windows. This solves the problem because Windows doesn¡¯t load the secondary indexing processes.

1.1.1 PROCEDURE 1: the following procedure allows you to disable

removable drive indexing.

1. Press Windows Key

+ R combination, put regedit in ¡°Run¡± dialog box and click on OK

to open the Registry Editor.

2. Navigate here: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows

3. In the left panel of this location, right click over Windows folder and select New -> Key. Name

the newly created sub-key as Windows Search. Now select the same sub-key and come to its

right panel as shown in image above. Right click in the blank space, select New -> DWORD

Value (32 bit). Name the newly created DWORD as DisableRemovableDriveIndexing.

Double click on the newly created DWORD to get this:

4. In the above box, input the Value data as 1. Click on OK. You may now exit Registry Editor and

reboot, this should fix the issue.

NOTE: if you have windows 10 home you don¡¯t have to implement the following steps since the

Local Group Policy Editor does not exist. Reboot the system to complete the procedure.

5. Press Windows Key + R combination, write gpedit.msc in Run dialog box and click on OK to

open the Local Group Policy Editor.

Components ? Search.

drives to be added to libraries.

This policy setting configures whether or not locations on removable drives can be added to libraries. If

you enable this policy setting, locations on removable drives cannot be added to libraries. In addition,

locations on removable drives cannot be indexed. If you disable or do not configure this policy setting,

locations on removable drives can be added to libraries. In addition, locations on removable drives can

be indexed.
