Unit Plan: Fitness gramFitnessgram is physical education program used to assess students on various components of physical fitness and comparing it the national average for age groups. The students in this unit plan will start off by making a profile on the fitness gram application on class computers, students will input various individual specific information such as age, gender, height and weight. Students will then add a daily schedule to see how much activity the student get and food intake to see if the student has a proper diet. The students will then take a baseline test on different components of fitness gram. Students input this information to the fitness gram application. Fitness gram will generate a report for the student; the student will use this report to compare their fitness level to the national average for their age group and then improve of fitness areas needing improvement. Grade: 9th-10th6 lessons45 minutes per lesson20-30 kids per classScope and Sequence of the unit plan: The entire fitness gram will take place over months, starting at the beginning at start of the new semester and a final fitness gram test at the end. Students will be given one day a week in-between the start of the semester until the end to improve any area of fitness they need.Materials: computer, internet, fitness gram application, pacer music cd, stereo, stop watch, caliper, calculator, sit and reach box, ruler, pen and paper for each individual student. Facilities: computer lab, gym, outdoor track.Technology: computer, fitness gram application, internet, pacer music cd, stereo, stop watch, calculator. Students: Students will be placed in groups of 2 with someone close to their fitness level.
