These auctions hold weekly sales of all types of motor vehicles where new and used car dealers, manufacturers, fleet operators, rental car and other companies, insurance agencies and financial institutions all come to buy and sell in an environment governed by industry established standards for workplace safety and professional best practices.NAAA’s 345 member auctions in 47 states, Puerto Rico, Canada, England, Australia and Japan have sales totaling about 9.8 million vehicles generating revenue of $111 billion. Also, auto auctions generously give back to their communities, contributing an average of $13,878 per auction annually to charity, sponsoring everything from children’s activities and college scholarships to animal rescue and medical research. Besides their financial support, auction employees donate their volunteer time to a diverse variety of local nonprofits ranging from hospitals, homeless shelters and food banks to blood drives, environmental conservation, and veterans’ programs.So again, on behalf of the [AUTO AUCTION NAME] and the National Auto Auction Association, I ask that you declare August 17-21, “National Auto Auction Week” in recognition of this important industry and encourage the public to support our local automobile dealers as they join us in the ongoing commitment to public service in our community.
