Scholarships for students with disabilities in the US

Scholarships are listed in order of the closest upcoming deadline. Scholarships on this page are aimed at students across the US or in one geographic region. Scholarships aimed at students from specific localities are not included. Scholarships targeted specifically to those with learning disabilities are generally not included, although some PWNs may be eligible for these scholarships.

Good places to search for additional scholarships:

• - as the name implies, it’s a big clearinghouse for scholarships. Lots of options.

• - another big listing, although they want you to apply through their website, putting the name of the scholarship in google is often enough to lead you back to the original source of the scholarship. Peterson’s will suggest similar scholarships to results you are interested in and allows you to search by attribute.

• - a smaller listing, but they have a “match” feature that allows you to tailor results. Like Peterson’s, you may want to double check scholarships you are interested in with a google search.

Large lists of scholarships for people with disabilities. This list will include scholarships that may apply to PWNs with additional challenges, or to those where narcolepsy can be defined as a learning disability for the student and the individual scholarship eligibility terms:

Academy of Special Dreams Scholarship



Scholarships are awarded to students who submit a portfolio of creative work with their application. Candidates must be studying art or creative writing and have a documented disability.

Buckfire Diversity & Disability Scholarships



Buckfire & Buckfire, P.C. offers annual scholarships to assist students who demonstrate a commitment to academic excellence at accredited schools in the United States. The scholarships are to be used exclusively for college and university tuition and related expenses:

• Buckfire & Buckfire, P.C. Law School Diversity Scholarship

• Buckfire & Buckfire, P.C. Medical Diversity Scholarship

If selected as a scholarship winner, a check will be made payable to the recipient's institution to cover school-related expenses. Jack & Julie Narcolepsy Scholarship



Candidates must be diagnosed with narcolepsy. High school seniors attending a four-year college or university are eligible.

Incight Scholarship



For Oregon or SW Washington State residents. Undergraduate and graduate students with a documented disability are eligible to apply for this scholarship.

John Lepping Memorial Scholarship



Students with psychological handicaps and physical disabilities are eligible. Candidates must reside in New Jersey, New York, or Pennsylvania.

Rehabmart Disability Scholarships



Students will submit an essay on a provided topic. Candidates must have a disability, be a health science student or be entering the field of special needs education.

Disability Care Center Scholarships



Scholarships are awarded students who have a debilitating condition(s) while continuing their education at a college institution.

Marianjoy Scholarship Program



Committed to students with disabilities and their pursuit of higher education; for those with narcolepsy caused by head injury. Each year, Marianjoy proudly awards scholarships to students with disabilities to help them pursue educational programs at accredited two or four-year colleges and universities, or vocational technical schools in the United States.

Joseph James Morelli Scholarship



High school and college students who are pursuing a career in science, technology, engineering or math (STEM) are eligible for this award. Students must provide evidence of a learning challenge.

Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program



Open to US Citizens receiving Pell Grant Funding. Students from diverse backgrounds, including those with disabilities, are eligible. Candidates must be pursuing a study abroad or internship opportunity.

RiSE Scholarship Foundation, Inc.



For students who “learn differently”. High school seniors who plan to attend a college or university are eligible to apply. Candidates must provide documentation of a learning disability and have a GPA of 2.5 or higher.

Disability Awareness Scholarship



Awards are given to support disability awareness. Students who apply must be of the high school, undergraduate or graduate level.

Google Lime Scholarship for Students with Disabilities



Undergraduate and graduate students with disabilities pursuing a career in computer science, computer engineering or a closely related technical field are eligible to apply

Foundation for Science and Disability Student Award Program



Students pursuing a degree in the STEM fields are eligible for this award. Students must have a documented disability and can be of the undergraduate or graduate level. All candidates must plan to pursue a graduate degree.

AAHD Frederick J. Krause Scholarship on Health and Disability



Candidates must have a disability and be enrolled full-time as an undergraduate or graduate student. Preference is given to those pursuing a career in disability and health.

BMO Capital Markets Lime Connect Equity Through Education Scholarship



Candidates must have a visible or invisible disability. Current undergraduate students with a major in statistics, math, engineering, finance, business or a related field are eligible to apply.
