Team and Individual Championship

DATE: Monday, November 9, 2009

LOCATION: Balboa Golf Course

CHECK IN TIME: 7:30 – 8:00 A.M. – Coaches must be present at sign in. In the event of a

verifiable emergency, every attempt must be made to notify the Athletics Office Staff at (213) 207-2207. If the coach is unable to be present at sign-in, the school designee must meet the Title V requirements and will be required to perform all duties assigned.

REPORT TO 1ST TEE: 8:00 A.M.

STARTING TIME: 8:30 A.M.

QUALIFYING SCORES:

□ To be considered as a team, the team must consistently shoot 255 (5 players) or below. (9 holes.)

□ To be considered as an individual, girls must consistently shoot no more than 15 over par. (9 holes)

□ At least 4 matches should be played on regulation courses. Difficulties of courses will be considered.

□ Teams with qualifying scores shall be composed of a minimum of five players and a maximum of six players. The team with the lowest five scores shall be declared the City Championship Team. At-large players can only compete as an individual.

Southern California Regional Championship

DATE: Monday November 16, 2009

LOCATION: SCGA Golf Course, Murrieta, Ca

(Additional information will be provided to qualifying teams and individuals)

STARTING TIME: To be determined

QUALIFIERS: The LA City Section will send two teams of 6, with 5 scores counting.

The LA City Section will send 12 individual qualifiers (not to include the team qualifiers).

The LA City Section will determine the section entries from the results of the

City Championships.

Regulations and reminders for the City Championships

1. All players must wear appropriate clothing: slacks, Bermuda length dress shorts or golf skirt; collared shirt; golf shoes are recommended (preferable soft spikes). No T-Shirts, Tank Tops, Cargo Pants, Shorts or Denim Jeans will be permitted. Collared shirt in official school color required.

2. Players and coaches must check-in between 7:30-8:00 A.M. at the scoring table.

3. Athletes are expected to display good sportsmanship and character at all times. Club throwing, ball throwing, swearing, yelling, or any other improper behavior will not be tolerated. The penalty will be two strokes for the first infraction, and disqualification for the second infraction.

4. Spectators are permitted but must remain outside the tree line and off any playing area. No contact or communication with competitors will be allowed at any time. Any violations of this requirement will result in the disqualification of the competitor. Smoking is prohibited in any area near or on the golf course, to include the parking lot. Violations of the smoking ban by competitors will result in disqualified.

5. The maximum number of players is six per team. Coaches who have players in the Championship are required to attend. Any player whose coach or school designee is not present at the designated report time will be disqualified from competition. Designees are required remain at the event until completion and perform duties as assigned by the event director. In the event of emergency, it is the schools responsibility to communicate with the Athletics Office. A school designee must meet Title V requirements. (IAC Rule 1206-3)

6. If a girl played on the Student Team in the spring and did not compete in the Student Golf Championship (in the spring), she is allowed to compete in the Girls’ Championship in the fall, providing she meets all other eligibility requirements., see IAC Rule 1205-5; She must also have a coach or school designee who meets the coaching requirements check her in and stay the entire day.

7. Coaches are required to act as scorekeepers and will be assigned by event director (IAC Rule 1206-4.e). Golf carts may be used by the score keeper at their own expense

8. No electronic devices will be allowed on courses (penalty: Disqualification.)

9. The seeding meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 27, 2009 at Contreras LC (PE Classroom) beginning at 4:00 P.M to determine a maximum of 44 qualifiers. League Managers are required to provide league final results, match scores and individual scores above par to Myra Einberg at Venice as soon as this information is available. League Managers are required to attend the seeding meeting with the league recommendation of qualifying golfers.

Awards

At the conclusion of the championship, team and individual awards will be presented to the top finishers. Team Champion and Team Runner-Up plaques will be presented to the coach from the respective teams, and medals will be presented to the members from each team. Individual medals will be presented to the top ten individual finishers (other than top two team members). It is the expectation of the Athletics Office that all participants and coaches of participating teams remain for the awards presentation at the conclusion of the tournament.
