This checklist was created as a quick reference for Unit Education Officers that approve TA.

Unit Approver is command authorized

First Time TA Users have:

at least 24 active months in service (0-5 level commanders may reduce min time to 18 months) minimum GT score of 100 completed Higher Education Preparation Course (Prefix: HEP, Course # US001) completed MCI Personal Financial Management (Course ID 3420G)

requesting one course unless Marine has an Associate's Degree with a minimum GPA of 2.5

Marines may not participate in more than two TA-funded courses simultaneously

TA Application submitted within 60 days of course start date (request will be denied if it does not fall within this requirement) Enlisted Marines must have an EAS of 60 days beyond the completion date of the course

SVM is promotion eligible

SVM cannot be on Training Status
