STEVE BURKOWSKI: The journey began over eight months ago in the Bahamas. It concludes this week in Atlantic Beach, Florida. The Tour Championship, the 25th edition of the Tour Championship. And PGA Tour Cards will be handed out come Sunday evening. Steve Burkowski with you, alongside the Player's Champ, Craig Perks. And they're off and running early on a Thursday, like Nicholas Lindheim here at 7.

00:00:58:16

CRAIG PERKS: Yeah. Two Top 20s in the first three Finals events. He's 19th on the Money List.

00:01:02:04

CRAIG PERKS: How about Aaron Baddeley? This for birdie at 6.

00:01:05:16

CRAIG PERKS: Well, this man putts great on any--any surface. These Bermuda greens are flawless. And that one finds the center of the cup.

00:01:13:08

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Michael Thompson played well a week ago. Continuing to do so here in the opening round. His tee shot at 8.

00:01:19:16

CRAIG PERKS: Yeah. 6th-place finish in Boise. This the par-3, 168 yards. And a magnificent iron shot. That's back-to-back birdies.

00:01:28:05

STEVE BURKOWSKI: And speaking of a birdie, how Baddeley at 9 for another?

00:01:30:27

CRAIG PERKS: Well, downhill, down grain, not much movement. The hole right now looking as big--big as a bucket for Baddeley. [clapping] That's his fourth birdie in the last five holes.

00:01:40:28

STEVE BURKOWSKI: The veteran getting it done in the early going at the Tour Championship. PGA Tour Cards up for grabs, as this week is one last opportunity to earn one of the 25.

00:01:55:16

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Let's go out to 10 and Aaron Baddeley. This for birdie. Gary Christian's watching.

00:02:00:23

GARY CHRISTIAN: Yeah. Well, it's one of those nice downhill, down grain putts.

00:02:09:05

MALE: Good try.

00:02:10:23

CRAIG PERKS: Every putt looks like it's gonna go in. That one just skirted the edge.

00:02:15:07

PHIL BLACKMAR: Yeah. Good morning. Michael Thompson for birdie. Tripp Isenhour out with this group.

00:02:19:04

TRIPP ISENHOUR: Yeah. A long putt. It's gonna be working to his right the whole way.

00:02:26:17

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Up at 18, the par-5, Trevor Cone has this for eagle. Started his day on the back nine. So just halfway through his round.

00:02:35:17

CRAIG PERKS: Yeah. Five birdies on his opening 9, out in 32, the man that, uh, has only made about $8100 in the Finals so far.

00:02:44:04

PHIL BLACKMAR: To the 15th, Ben Silverman played on the PGA Tour this year, finished 136th in the Fed-Ex Cup Points Race. This for birdie. The par-3 today playing 155 yards. Well done, there.

00:02:58:26

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Him Knous now at the 12th.

00:03:00:26

TRIPP ISENHOUR: Yeah. A great look here for birdie, just behind the hole, breaking to the left. One he can be aggressive with, Craig, which is so important on these greens, as you mentioned. They are ideal. But, uh, when you get these kind of putts, you've got to take advantage of them.

00:03:16:12

CRAIG PERKS: Yeah. I talked to Chesley Scott, the Superintendent, this morning. He's spent a whole year after the Tour Championship last year preparing for this week, trying to get these greens firmer, get them in excellent condition. Over 12.5 on the Stimpmeter. The firmness is exactly where he wants them. He was excited. And I think the players are excited on these surfaces. They are pristine.

00:03:39:14

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Jim Knous started the week 17th on the Finals 25 Money List, with just over 39,000. Right now projected First. Jim Knous is a really good spot. He simply needs to just sort of make the cut, as we crunch the numbers, and he knows he's headed to the PGA Tour.

00:03:54:17

CRAIG PERKS: Yeah. And I tell you what, to go out and to start the way he did today, you know, because he knows that if he, you know, makes the cut, then he's gonna have a PGA Tour Card. He's--this is only his second full year on the Tour. To have it right there within grasp, and to be 4 under through seven holes, that is really impressive.

00:04:14:05

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Now Michael Thompson for birdie at 12.

00:04:16:17

TRIPP ISENHOUR: A really straight putt here. And there's a spine in this green. He's right on top of the spine, just putting downhill ever-so-slightly.

00:04:31:08

CRAIG PERKS: Michael felt very confident on the greens last week in Boise. But now we're changed to Bermuda.

00:04:38:20

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Taylor Gooch, his third here at the par-5.

00:04:41:26

CRAIG PERKS: Yes. This is their cart path, which is sand and shell covered. Uh, played as through the green. And, um--

00:04:49:24

STEVE BURKOWSKI: [Indistinct]

00:04:50:21

CRAIG PERKS: Well, what's so good about these is they're so firm--firmly packed.

00:04:55:13

PHIL BLACKMAR: It's now a good opportunity for birdie for Fabian Gomez.

00:05:02:01

PHIL BLACKMAR: All right. That gets him to 2 under par. We project that he needs about a 22nd-place finish this week there.

00:05:10:23

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Third at the par-5 for Brett Drewitt. And what a bounce-back after a struggle on the weekend in Boise. [club swing]

00:05:17:04

CRAIG PERKS: Yeah. Five straight birdies, from the 5th through the 9th. Just a short wedge into this 10th. And we might want to give him six straight. Yeah. He was tied for the lead through 36 holes in--in Boise.

00:05:29:13

PHIL BLACKMAR: Here's a guy, right here, who can hit a lot of good shots, Lucas Glover. Off to a great start. A chance to tie for the lead at 5 under. And well done. If he gets that putter going like that, he hits a lot of really good golf shots.

00:05:49:27

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Brett Drewitt, his form on this Thursday, now 5 under par, tied for the lead.

00:05:57:06

PHIL BLACKMAR: Well, as we watched Baddeley's putt come across there, I think one of the things that you have to do is--is embrace it. You know--you know what you're gonna feel. You can't hide from it. If you try to avoid it, then it really catches you off-guard.

00:06:22:26

STEVE BURKOWSKI: That was Ben Silverman rolling one in at 17.

00:06:28:00

PHIL BLACKMAR: 15th, now. That is Jim Knous putting for birdie.

00:06:34:19

PHIL BLACKMAR: And he has shown us throughout this year that when he gets hot with his irons, he really hits a lot of good iron shots. He stays within himself with his swing. And a nice putter, as well. Good rhythm in that stroke. Did he hit it? He did. Another birdie for Jim Knous. That gets him to minus 5.

00:06:55:22

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Let's see if we get the "mile-high salute." A big Denver Broncos fan.

00:07:00:15

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Drop back to 14, Roger Sloan, this for birdie. He got the job done last week in Boise. He's headed back to the PGA Tour. And continues to play well. That moves Roger to 5 under.

00:07:13:19

CRAIG PERKS: One big exhale after finishing 2nd there in Boise.

00:07:18:16

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Over at 14, second on the way for Lucas Glover.

00:07:26:10

CRAIG PERKS: Oh, that's magnificent. Great control of the distance. Ideally hit from the center of the fairway.

00:07:33:14

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Remember him--his days at Clemson. Just such a great ball-striker.

00:07:38:19

PHIL BLACKMAR: Now back over to the 11th, Kevin Dougherty. He came so close in Portland. This for birdie. He's not rebounded very well. It's been a tough Finals series for him. That will help. [clapping]

00:07:54:20

PHIL BLACKMAR: To the 15th now, Matt Every has--come on, give him this one. That's for birdie. He's gonna knock that in this.

00:07:59:14

STEVE BURKOWSKI: What does Tripp always say? On Tuesdays with your buddies, you give them to you.

00:08:03:08

PHIL BLACKMAR: The wedge shot here for Lindheim at 17.

00:08:04:29

TRIPP ISENHOUR: Yeah. 124 yards, Phil. That's all the way back to the hole. Oh, this one looks really good.

00:08:13:00

PHIL BLACKMAR: And it is. You know, shot-face players tend to be really good wedge players. They can flight the ball.

00:08:19:29

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Over at 14, Dylan Meyer for birdie. This to move to 5 under par.

00:08:30:01

CRAIG PERKS: And he needs a 7th-place finish. And with that birdie, it gets him tied 4th. So there you go. It's early. But at least he's in the green.

00:08:38:24

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Over at 13, Kevin Dougherty trying to keep it going. 3 under par. [club swing] This his second at the par-4.

00:08:48:26

CRAIG PERKS: If you want--wanted to, you could use the slope right of the flag. Or you can--with these guys hitting it so far, it's just a wedge.

00:08:56:01

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Now back down to 18 with Jim Knous.

00:08:58:29

TRIPP ISENHOUR: Good spot to putt from. Really not much break in this at all. [clapping]

00:09:18:28

STEVE BURKOWSKI: That's a very good end.

00:09:19:15

CRAIG PERKS: Sam, you've actually got this true off-season. What--what is--what have you been doing?

00:09:24:21

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Matt Every at 17. This for birdie. This to get within 1.

00:09:32:29

MALE: Oh, yeah. [clapping]

00:09:35:22

STEVE BURKOWSKI: [club swing] Glover's second at 18 on the way.

00:09:41:21

CRAIG PERKS: He had a nice window there. Likes to hit the draw. Scurries up the green. He's got an uphill putt for an eagle. Beautiful shot.

00:09:51:28

STEVE BURKOWSKI: This for eagle and the outright lead with a round of 63 for Lucas.

00:09:59:08

CRAIG PERKS: Now, a confident stroke, straight up the hill. But that's probably the slow--one of the slowest putts on the golf course, into the green, as well.

00:10:16:23

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Morning wave wrapping up here at Atlantic Beach Country Club. Opening round coverage of the Tour Championship. Ben Silverman has moved to 8 under par. But Craig, a day with very little wind, but very good scores. [music]

[COMMERCIAL BREAK]

00:10:43:00

STEVE BURKOWSKI: The Tour season concludes this week at Atlantic Beach Country Club. It all got going in January in the Bahamas. This is the 27th and final event of the 2018 schedule, as PGA Tour Cards will be handed out come Sunday evening here in North Florida. Steve Burkowski with you alongside the Player's Champ Craig Perks. And plenty making moves on this Friday morning, like Carlos Ortiz at 14.

00:11:07:13

CRAIG PERKS: Playing with some comfort, though. He finished 21st in the regular season. In other words, he has his PGA Tour Card. Steve, how about this? He went out with nine straight pars to open this tournament. Came home in 29. He is now 9 under par in his last 15 holes. And he's at the top of the Leaderboard.

00:11:25:20

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Ben Crane looking to get back to the PGA Tour, where he has won five times before. This for eagle at 6.

00:11:31:21

CRAIG PERKS: Opened with 64. Started this second round with back-to-back bogeys. 4 under in his last three holes.

00:11:38:16

STEVE BURKOWSKI: How about this at the 9th? His third from the greenside bunker.

00:11:41:02

CRAIG PERKS: Not a lot of green with which to work. Straight downhill. That's perfection. I talked about the opening bogeys. Out in 32 for the five-time PGA Tour winner.

00:11:52:03

STEVE BURKOWSKI: A big day for many in the second round of the Tour Championship. Crane and Ortiz tied at the top as this is one last opportunity for those in the field to earn a PGA Tour Card.

00:12:05:19

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Back to the 10th, Ben Crane for birdie.

00:12:08:17

GARY CHRISTIAN: A very similar putt to the one Norlander just had. A little bit of grain pulling it to the left, as well.

00:12:28:24

CRAIG PERKS: I tell you what. Chesley Scott, the Superintendent, and his staff have done a magnificent job with these greens. The players are raving about this surface.

00:12:39:19

TRIPP ISENHOUR: The grain pulling this one to his right.

00:12:45:14

PHIL BLACKMAR: Yeah. He didn't quite get the read, Tripp. He didn't get the memo. Opportunity missed there. That was a pretty makeable putt. Trying to make his way back to the PGA Tour. He is currently projected, after this little tap-in for par, here, he came in this week with--right on the bubble, $33,000. We're projecting around 40,000 to be safe. And he's projected out right now--he's gonna have to make some birdies to make the cut. We think the cut's gonna be 3 or 4 under par today. And so a lot of pressure on these players.

00:13:28:06

PHIL BLACKMAR: Now, over to the 15th. After that nice tee shot, Cameron Tringale has this for birdie. Well, that's a hard-earned 2, right there. This is a difficult par 3 with today's hole location.

00:13:41:23

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Mark Anderson at 10. This for birdie to get to 6 under par.

00:13:45:14

STEVE BURKOWSKI: So he moves a little bit higher up that Leaderboard. 25,000 through the first three events. So about an 18th-place finish gets the job done this weekend for Mark.

00:13:57:19

STEVE BURKOWSKI: There's a look at that hole location over at 12, tucked on that back-left hand side.

00:14:04:24

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Ben Crane getting ready to go.

00:14:11:07

BEN CRANE: About every time we've gone this way, it's been--

00:14:12:08

CADDIE: Yeah. It's been a little longer. Huh?

00:14:14:18

BEN CRANE: So what? It's, like, a--

00:14:15:09

CADDIE: Five over 9 with that shot.

00:14:17:01

BEN CRANE: So let's just do a number on it. [indistinct].

00:14:36:19

CADDIE: Right there. A lot of cross. A little hurt.

00:14:38:11

BEN CRANE: Here you go. Okay.

00:14:42:17

GARY CHRISTIAN: Well, what makes it even more difficult with a left flag, and a left-right wind, there is a slope 15 feet right that you can use just to hold it up. It takes a little of the danger out of it.

00:14:56:29

CRAIG PERKS: Certainly an intimidating shot here, Gary. This is the toughest hole on the golf course this morning. It's only given up one birdie. And the hole's just playing 163 yards. Probably 9 irons for most players. So they are avoiding going left of this flag, because that would be a watery grave. [club swing]

00:15:36:28

CRAIG PERKS: I think he likes it. Giving it a look.

00:15:38:17

GARY CHRISTIAN: What a shot this is. Oh, wow.

00:15:40:19

CRAIG PERKS: Goodness.

00:15:40:28

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Crane for birdie and the lead.

00:15:45:17

MALE: Great 2.

00:15:45:25

BEN CRANE: Thanks.

00:15:46:16

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Ben Crane's not bad, either. Getting the job done. He moves to 5 under on the day.

00:15:51:27

PHIL BLACKMAR: Over at the 11th, Rico Hoey, a very talented player, Rico Hoey. This for birdie to get to minus 3. And he's got it. And that moves the cut line now from 2 under to 3 under.

00:16:06:02

PHIL BLACKMAR: To 17 now, Tringale, he hit a nice little wedge shot in here, you might remember. This for birdie.

00:16:14:21

PHIL BLACKMAR: And minus 11, and, oh, there you go. [laugh] That's one of those you may not be old enough to remember, but a little hand would come out and reach and pull a nickel or a quarter in--back in. It's like a little hand came out of the hole there and grabbed that ball.

00:16:28:19

STEVE BURKOWSKI: At 10 with Curtis Luck.

00:16:31:21

CRAIG PERKS: And it was certainly good to see this young man play well last week and get over that $40,000 number. You know, he talked about it. This is his first year as a professional.

00:16:42:23

PHIL BLACKMAR: Eric Compton for birdie, trying to play his way back onto the PGA Tour. And he's been playing a lot better of late. This club's been working a lot better for him. Kind of like that one, right there. [clapping] Normally a very good ball-striker, you can see, he's birdied three of his last four holes. It's the putter.

00:17:03:07

PHIL BLACKMAR: Adam Schenk here at the 11th. [club swing] His second shot. Out of Purdue, Adam is heading to the PGA Tour. He's played very well here in the Finals.

00:17:16:20

PHIL BLACKMAR: An opportunity to tie for the lead. We should give him that one. Good putt. Good birdie for Adam.

00:17:26:13

PHIL BLACKMAR: As we go to the 17th and Roach for birdie.

00:17:29:25

TRIPP ISENHOUR: Finally, finally, somebody on this hole with a good birdie opportunity. [clapping]

00:17:36:11

PHIL BLACKMAR: And taking advantage, Tripp.

00:17:39:18

TRIPP ISENHOUR: Indeed.

00:17:40:24

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Over at 12, Adam Schenk has this for birdie and a share of the lead, to get to 11 under.

00:17:45:26

CRAIG PERKS: Well, this would be his seventh birdie of the day without a bogey. And that one looks right dead center.

00:17:54:16

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Back at 14, second upcoming for Curtis Luck.

00:17:58:12

CRAIG PERKS: Remember, this back hole location. Now, here's a guy that was 3 over through 13 holes in Portland. Played his last 59 holes 14 under to finish 6th. And then 5th in Columbus. He's made over 41,000.

00:18:13:25

STEVE BURKOWSKI: There's the green at the 18th. That is Henrik Norlander on the 10th tee, getting ready for his fourth shot.

00:18:20:23

GARY CHRISTIAN: A very small landing area. He's got about 60 yards left. And to carry over a slope. He's only got about 12 feet between the flag and the slope. Anything short of that will come back down off the green. [club swing]

00:18:41:28

CRAIG PERKS: Oh, my goodness.

00:18:42:21

GARY CHRISTIAN: What a shot that was. Oh!

00:18:44:17

CRAIG PERKS: Oh, that is magnificent. [clapping]

00:18:47:08

PHIL BLACKMAR: Cameron Davis out of the waste area left of the

00:18:50:24

15th green.

00:18:50:24

TRIPP ISENHOUR: Yeah. Lie's good, Phil. And really, you know, pretty stock-standard bunker shot. [club swing]

00:18:56:12

PHIL BLACKMAR: [Laugh] Really?

00:18:57:00

TRIPP ISENHOUR: Not stock-standard results.

00:18:59:10

PHIL BLACKMAR: [Laugh]

00:19:00:18

TRIPP ISENHOUR: The shot was stock-standard.

00:19:02:03

PHIL BLACKMAR: How about that one? Clunk! That's a slam-dunk. [chuckle] All right. Why wouldn't you?

00:19:11:21

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Over at 6 now, Cameron Tringale to extend his lead to 3, Craig.

00:19:15:01

CRAIG PERKS: Yeah. Looking for his sixth birdie of the day. He had nine in his opening round, with that 63. He's has a miserable year. 195th in the Fed-Ex Cup Standings, just one made cut in the first three Finals events, where he finished 56th in Cleveland. But currently in control of this tournament with a two-shot lead.

00:19:35:05

STEVE BURKOWSKI: A big afternoon on tap for those teeing off in the late wave. We'll see who makes it to the weekend. The current cut right now at 3 under. For the entire team, I'm Steve Burkowski saying so long for now. We'll see you tomorrow for third round action.

[COMMERCIAL BREAK]

00:19:57:08

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Welcome to Atlantic Beach, Florida. A sun-splashed Saturday afternoon at the Tour Championship, the final event of 20 seasons throughout the course of this season on the Tour. 25 PGA Tour Cards will be handed out on Sunday evening. And what a shoot-out we've got going here in the third round of action. Curtis Luck, 8 under on the day, currently a one-shot lead over three-time PGA Tour Winner Lucas Glover. Chris Paisley in with 63. He opened up with 61 on Thursday. He's looking to get to the PGA Tour for the very first time. Steve Burkowski, Craig Perks, Phil Blackmar, Tripp Isenhour, Gary Christian with you. And we go out to the 9th and say hello to Phil.

00:20:39:21

PHIL BLACKMAR: And good afternoon. This is Julian Suri. He came into these Finals ranked highly in the world. You think it's easy to get through these Finals? He was ranked ahead of players like Jason Dufner, Jimmy Walker, and Charles Howell. Yet he is on the bubble. Right now, with a fine round today, he's 5 under par on his round today. He's moved up into a tie for 17th. He needs about a 13th-place finish to get through. [clapping] So this good round today has kept his hopes alive. He had a great chance last week. A poor round on Sunday, 74. But he's still got a chance.

00:21:16:26

PHIL BLACKMAR: Back at the 11th now, McCarthy for birdie.

00:21:19:04

GARY CHRISTIAN: A very aggressive wedge here, a slight left-to-right break.

00:21:25:29

PHIL BLACKMAR: Good birdie putt there for McCarthy. He already has his card in hand.

00:21:34:13

PHIL BLACKMAR: Over at 13 now. Sepp Straka for birdie.

00:21:36:16

TRIPP ISENHOUR: Yeah. About four feet. This one, no break in it at all. [clapping]

00:21:43:05

PHIL BLACKMAR: Well, that moves him to 4 under in his round, 15 under and a tie for 4th at the moment.

00:21:53:17

PHIL BLACKMAR: Ben Silverman now at the 13th for birdie.

00:21:56:08

TRIPP ISENHOUR: Yeah. The total length of his last two approach shots, Phil, is about five-and-a-half feet. [clapping]

00:22:02:27

PHIL BLACKMAR: Well, Ben Silverman is done trying to play other players' games. He's trying to focus on playing his own game, stick to what he does well. And it's working nicely for him here.

00:22:13:06

STEVE BURKOWSKI: We'll go up one to 14, Curtis Luck.

00:22:15:18

TRIPP ISENHOUR: Boy, I'll tell you what. This was a bold tee shot. Very close to a water hazard. But it left him 92 yards [club swing] and looking straight down the full length of the green. This has got to get down. Well, not much. That's well done.

00:22:26:15

CRAIG PERKS: Tripp, when you're 8 under through 14, or 13 holes, you can, uh--you can play pretty aggressively.

00:22:33:22

PHIL BLACKMAR: Over at the 17th hole now. Brett Drewitt had a great opportunity last week. Tied for the lead after 36. Struggled on the weekend.

00:22:41:05

MALE: Attaboy.

00:22:41:05

PHIL BLACKMAR: Good putt there. Showing some heart coming back this week. Needs a 6th-place finish or better. Still projected outside of the Top 25. But he's got it in a position where he's got a chance tomorrow to get it done.

00:22:53:29

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Silverman for his birdie at the 14th.

00:22:56:04

TRIPP ISENHOUR: Yeah. For three in a row. Good spot to putt from, about, uh, 12 feet. The grain is going across the hole from his right-to-left. But it looks like there's a little slope kicking it to the right. I think they cancel each other out.

00:23:09:20

CRAIG PERKS: Oh, great call, there, Tripp. [clapping] Perfect read. That's four birdies in his last five holes.

00:23:18:03

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Curtis Luck, another birdie chance at 14.

00:23:20:23

TRIPP ISENHOUR: Just got to put this inside left.

00:23:23:11

MALE: Well done. [clapping]

00:23:24:06

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Well, now it gets interesting. 9 under through 14 holes. Par 71.

00:23:28:19

CRAIG PERKS: Don't--don't say it, please.

00:23:30:11

STEVE BURKOWSKI: We're--we're here to inform and educate.

00:23:31:19

CRAIG PERKS: Don't say it.

00:23:33:05

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Drop back to 12, where Cameron Tringale will be getting ready for his second here at the par 3.

00:23:39:22

GARY CHRISTIAN: Well, Cameron's 9-iron really got caught up in the wind. It's on one of these integr--integral parts of the golf course, these cart paths. And this is quite a move here. He's got a palm tree smack-dab in the way between him and the flag.

00:23:56:02

CRAIG PERKS: Gary, as it crests over on the other side of the path, is there a little lip that he has to go over? This is a--a surprising play, I think with the putter, having to putt through the severity of the upslope, into the green. With Bermuda, I think he'd like to take a lot of that out of play and use some sort of sand wedge.

00:24:11:25

GARY CHRISTIAN: Well, I think one of the reasons is this sand isn't as compacted here. It's quite loose.

00:24:22:04

GARY CHRISTIAN: Well, all-in-all, that's not bad at all.

00:24:24:07

CRAIG PERKS: No. I completely agree. Excellent shot. A guy that finished 195th in the Fed-Ex Cup Standings. He said it's been a long year. But this week, he's--he's excited about golf.

00:24:36:07

PHIL BLACKMAR: Well, you know, as we watch this, the "Golf Channel" is the home of collegiate golf. And you see these fans that you make in college last the rest of your career.

00:24:46:10

GARY CHRISTIAN: That was a hard pitching wedge from Glover. A good selection. [clapping]

00:24:53:02

PHIL BLACKMAR: Well, he hits a lot of good shots.

00:24:54:18

CRAIG PERKS: And more symmetry, Lucas' last victory on the PGA Tour, he beat Jonathan Byrd in a playoff.

00:24:59:23

PHIL BLACKMAR: Take it to 15 now, Cameron Tringale.

00:25:02:06

GARY CHRISTIAN: Well, a pitching wedge for Tringale. [club swing] That's a much more crisp strike, there. It's on a decent line.

00:25:11:27

PHIL BLACKMAR: And a good shot there. He needs a 5th--a 5th-place finish. He's just outside of that right now, in a tie for 8th.

00:25:19:04

PHIL BLACKMAR: So if he makes a couple of birdies here coming in, he's in good position to get it done ne--tomorrow, though, if he can have a good round.

00:25:26:06

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Now over at 16, Ben Silverman getting ready to go.

00:25:29:23

TRIPP ISENHOUR: Yeah. This, uh, last couple of holes, I'll tell you what, proximity to the hole [chuckle], he's off the charts.

00:25:37:02

CRAIG PERKS: Yep. Four straight birdies. And I think this hole location is probably one of the most accessible. You can go a little right of this flag, Tripp, and use a--a slope down grain to the hole. You don't really have to at--you know, shoot towards the water.

00:25:49:05

TRIPP ISENHOUR: No, you don't. You really don't want to mess with anything left of this flag. 155 yards, back into the wind, out of the left. [club swing]

00:26:04:10

CRAIG PERKS: Well, another one absolutely spot on. Looking to make five straight birdies. And that would get him to 16 under.

00:26:12:20

PHIL BLACKMAR: Back at 15, now. Tringale for birdie.

00:26:15:00

GARY CHRISTIAN: After that good wedge shot, straight up the hill. Looking good.

00:26:20:22

PHIL BLACKMAR: All right. Good birdie there by Tringale.

00:26:28:12

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Brett Drewitt's 2nd at 18.

00:26:30:16

CRAIG PERKS: This par-5 playing straight downwind. It is a dangerous hole location in the front. And this would be to the right. But--

00:26:39:27

STEVE BURKOWSKI: How about that shot?

00:26:40:23

CRAIG PERKS: I'll tell you what. That's impressive for the guy that did have the 36-hole lead in Boise, but shot 70-74 to drop all the way back to 43rd. And to bounce back.

00:26:50:01

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Back over at 16, Lucas Glover.

00:26:54:03

GARY CHRISTIAN: It will be interesting seeing how aggressive he can remain here. Only a short iron in.

00:26:57:10

DONALD COOPER: No, I don't--I don't need this one, unfortunately.

00:27:00:08

LUCAS GLOVER: [Indistinct].

00:27:00:08

DONALD COOPER: Yeah. I don't want that club. See, that's shows straight hurt, right there. We can't use a pitching wedge. Uh-huh. It's a little 9-iron from here. It's just a solid 9-iron. You know, 42, playing, you know, close to 50 right now.

00:27:20:00

CRAIG PERKS: Donald Cooper's been on the bag for a long time. Coop. A lot of trust with his players and him.

00:27:28:20

GARY CHRISTIAN: Well, you can imagine if something is a little right of the flag, and possibly just a little deep. Short right. It's not an easy chip. [club swing]

00:27:43:22

CRAIG PERKS: Abbreviated follow-through, trying to flight it down. And absolutely gorgeous. [clapping]

00:27:49:24

STEVE BURKOWSKI: That swing hasn't changed a whole heck of a lot in 20 years since watching him back in his days at Clemson.

00:27:54:08

CRAIG PERKS: And admiration for that guy that's gone through multiple surgeries on both knees.

00:27:59:17

PHIL BLACKMAR: Every for birdie. He needs to finish Top 18 to get his PGA Tour Card back. Currently in a tie for 28th. That would have helped. So he'll have some work to do tomorrow. But he'll have a shot at it.

00:28:14:20

STEVE BURKOWSKI: That's--I'll tell you what. NFL Sunday is tomorrow. We got college football games under way today. Somebody might could use a punter.

00:28:22:23

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Matt is a very emotional golfer.

00:28:31:29

PHIL BLACKMAR: Straka's second now under way.

00:28:34:00

TRIPP ISENHOUR: Yeah. It's 100 yards, and just right of the hole. Trying to draw it back ever-so-slightly.

00:28:38:11

PHIL BLACKMAR: Yeah. Good shot there. [clapping]

00:28:40:29

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Up to 18, 42-year-old Ben Crane, five-time winner on the PGA Tour, looking to wrap up his day with eagle.

00:28:48:14

CRAIG PERKS: Well, an extremely disappointing day for Ben Crane. He needed a 25th place finish. He began the day 11th. He's now 63rd. Look at those four consecutive bogeys from 14 through 17. Disastrous. And he showed signs of this yesterday, really. There was an untidy finish to his round when he had three bogeys in his last [cheers and clapping] six holes. But what a way to finish.

00:29:17:10

STEVE BURKOWSKI: He knows he's got some status on the PGA Tour in the upcoming season. But certainly would have like to put together--

00:29:22:28

CRAIG PERKS: Well, a five-time winner. So you've got past champion. He finished 148th in the Fed-Ex Cup. So he'll--he's a conditional member, 126 to 150. He's probably guaranteed about 20 starts. But, oh, he'll be bitterly disappointed with that round today, 74, 3 over par, even with the closing eagle.

00:29:42:28

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Third for Kramer Hickok. [club swing]

00:29:45:16

CRAIG PERKS: Yeah. The easiest hole on the golf course. Kramer currently tied for 7th. And it's been a sensational Finals, really, for Kramer. You know, he did get his Card through the regular season. Finished 23rd. But to--to win wire-to-wire in Cleveland, checked all the boxes on the season.

00:30:02:07

PHIL BLACKMAR: 17 no. Sepp Straka for birdie.

00:30:04:12

TRIPP ISENHOUR: Well, somebody, Phil, is playing this hole the correct way. Somebody.

00:30:10:08

PHIL BLACKMAR: Currently tied for 4th, [clapping] that will move him up into a tie for the lead now. He needs a 5th place finish. Big pirdie there--birdie there for Sepp Straka.

00:30:21:18

PHIL BLACKMAR: Cameron Tringale currently tied for 8th. His second shot here at 17.

00:30:25:22

GARY CHRISTIAN: So 124 into the wind. [club swing] A good crisp pitching wedge. A very nice line, indeed.

00:30:33:23

PHIL BLACKMAR: Yes, it was. [clapping]

00:30:41:09

STEVE BURKOWSKI: tour graduates that are going to be involved next week in France, Craig. There are a lot.

00:30:46:26

CRAIG PERKS: It's a pretty strong collection of people there with Duval, Zack Johnson, and Kuchar, vice-captains to Jim Furyk, who played this tour in 1993. Did not graduate, surprisingly. [chuckle]

00:30:59:26

STEVE BURKOWSKI: He did all right on the PGA Tour. [chuckle]

00:31:02:00

CRAIG PERKS: Yeah, he's only 4th in career money out there.

00:31:04:04

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Matt Every to finish up with birdie.

00:31:06:29

CRAIG PERKS: Well, he's--again, today, he's 6th. He's finished now 21st. And Matt Every needs an 18th-place finish.

00:31:21:00

STEVE BURKOWSKI: A lot of movement here at the Tour Championship, final event. And look at some of the big ones. Lucas Glover is moving up 28 spots. But how about Sepp Straka, Chris Paisley? It was pretty much almost all-or-nothing to get it done. And through 54 holes, they're doing just that.

00:31:37:28

CRAIG PERKS: Yeah, it's, uh--the--the enormity of the situation and--and really, if you think of what Ben Crane said yesterday. The results matter where you play next year. And if these guys can sort of overcome how overwhelming this is going to be, and the tension, there is something very special at the end of tomorrow's round, a--a chance to play the PGA Tour.

00:32:00:19

STEVE BURKOWSKI: For those tuning in, what is it like tomorrow, knowing what's at stake,, and what's at the end of the rainbow as these guys are looking to fulfill a professional dream?

00:32:13:12

CRAIG PERKS: Well, there is a lot chaos, a lot of internal chaos. Uh, you know, hopefully, you're prepared for this situation. It's tough to replicate the pressure. It's tough to go out there and, um, know how much tension there is in your body, and how your body is going to react to that tension. But it's--you know, there is some self-belief in the mind. You've got to create this--this picture that you can do it.

00:32:38:27

STEVE BURKOWSKI: McCarthy to close with birdie.

00:32:41:06

GARY CHRISTIAN: And a very impressive day so far for McCarthy. He kept that intensity up.

00:32:55:14

STEVE BURKOWSKI: This to close with birdie and get within two.

00:32:58:16

GARY CHRISTIAN: Well, every shot you pick up here makes it a little easier tomorrow, doesn’t it? Awful lot of stress coming up for Cameron.

00:33:07:10

STEVE BURKOWSKI: If he made birdie here, he would now be solo 5th, which is exactly what we're projecting will be enough. Currently 25th on the Finals, 25 by $60 over Ben Silverman.

00:33:27:24

CRAIG PERKS: And what a difference. [cheers and clapping] What an up and down. That's birdies at 17 and 18. Overall, I think Steve prove something to yourself. Cameron Tringale has had a miserable year, 195th in the FedEx Cup. He said, "I'm just excited about golf for the first time this year." It has fueled his vigor. Prove something to yourself, in the most stressful of situations that you can go out there and perform up to the level of your abilities.

00:33:57:07

STEVE BURKOWSKI: He was in that final group a year ago, shot 71 on that Monday. Yeah, we finished up due to some weather issues on Sunday. Glover birdie and a share of the lead. Wow, it has been that kind of afternoon for Lucas Glover, hitting it extremely well. Giving himself a ton of opportunities but--

00:34:18:06

CRAIG PERKS: I'll tell you what--

00:34:18:06

STEVE BURKOWSKI: --just not able to pay it off.

00:34:19:14

CRAIG PERKS: 88 putts through 54 holes. But he is still bogey-free. So he's eliminated every error. And I think, to be honest with you, there is no substitution for experience. Lucas Glover has been on the PGA Tour for 15 years. I think you'd rely on all of those experiences to go out there and get it done tomorrow.

00:34:38:23

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Denny McCarthy for par. This to get in 17 under, a shot back of Sepp Straka. [clapping]

00:35:05:13

STEVE BURKOWSKI: 54 holes in the books here at the Tour Championship. Sepp Straka, the man they will all trying to catch, 18 under. He'll head to Sunday with a one-shot lead. But a host of others giving chase.

[COMMERCIAL BREAK]

00:35:26:25

STEVE BURKOWSKI: 106 rounds have been played on the Tour in 2018. One round remains. The drive for 25 PGA Tour Cards concludes on this Championship Sunday in Atlantic Beach, Florida. It is all about the final 25 Money List as some players look to rejuvenate a PGA Tour career, like Lucas Glover, a three-time winner out there. While others hope to get to the PGA Tour for the very first time, like 25-year-old Sepp Straka. Cameron Tringale finished tied for 5th in this Championship a year ago. He hopes to do the same, as he hopes to return to the PGA Tour. Ben Silverman, a big Sunday for the 30-year-old, as he looks to go to the PGA Tour for a second consecutive year.

00:36:12:27

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Here is the updated bubble, the Final 25 that we will continue to show early and often. Steve Burkowski and Craig Perks with you. And right now we said $40,000 was the number. And we're not too far away.

00:36:27:01

CRAIG PERKS: Our projections are pretty close.

00:36:29:12

STEVE BURKOWSKI: A lot of big days for so many in the field, like Jim Knous, the 28-year-old, his second here at the par-5 18th.

00:36:37:02

CRAIG PERKS: Began the week 17th in the Finals Money List. Began today 25th. Was 2-over for his first five holes. This a scintillating second at the par-5 18th, his 9th hole.

00:36:51:03

STEVE BURKOWSKI: And we see him on social media earlier today. Jim Knous saying, "You know I'm going to fight. I want to play with Tiger next year #teamhardk."

00:37:00:16

CRAIG PERKS: It's doing to "hardk," for sure. [chuckle]

00:37:02:23

STEVE BURKOWSKI: We've seen so much of him in Utah, in Portland, opportunities in Columbus to get the job done.

00:37:08:12

CRAIG PERKS: Yeah. Potentially, he--he learned a lot from--had the--the lead in the final day in Columbus, as he gives the mile-high salute. Did not play well, learned from those experiences.

00:37:17:25

STEVE BURKOWSKI: How about Sepp Straka? A winner earlier this year in the regular season. But still work to do.

00:37:22:20

CRAIG PERKS: Well, needs a two-way tie for 5th. Began the day in the lead. That's two birdies through his first six holes.

00:37:29:19

STEVE BURKOWSKI: That would get him to 20 under at the time. How about Ben Silverman, trying for a little Sunday charge, as well? His second at 4.

00:37:36:03

CRAIG PERKS: Well, he needed a two-way tie for 5th. Began the day 7th. His iron game has been absolutely spot-on this entire week.

00:37:45:02

STEVE BURKOWSKI: That birdie would get him to 16 under. Now ahead to the par-5 7th, his third.

00:37:49:09

CRAIG PERKS: Dangerous second--or third shot here with a back hole location. Pinpoint accuracy. That's three birdies in his last four holes.

00:37:58:13

STEVE BURKOWSKI: That would get Ben Silverman to 18 under par. But Sepp Straka not done. This for birdie at 7.

00:38:03:29

CRAIG PERKS: Well, two months ago, prior to winning in Kansas City, he had sent in his Q School, uh, application for the Tour. Now on the cusp, on the cusp, of getting his PGA Tour Card.

00:38:16:07

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Oh, what an exciting couple of hours it's going to be here. One event remains. One final opportunity in 2018 for these players to earn a PGA Tour Card.

00:38:28:06

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Let's go over to 17 and welcome in Phil Blackmar.

00:38:30:06

PHIL BLACKMAR: Thank you very much. This is Chad Campbell for birdie. Cad cur--Chad currently tied for 6th after that birdie. He came in needing to tie for 5th.

00:38:46:00

CRAIG PERKS: These guys began these four weeks in the Finals with 25 PGA Tour Cards at stake. That's what is awarded at the end of, uh, today.

00:38:56:15

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Over to the 10th. One of the co-leaders, Denny McCarthy. His third shot. Gary Christian is down there watching.

00:39:02:18

GARY CHRISTIAN: Dangerous back position, 101 yards, but with a wedge. Good-looking shot here that comes off the fringe.

00:39:13:23

PHIL BLACKMAR: Second shot now over at the 11th for Ben Silverman. [club swing] Currently in a tie for 6th. And a good shot there for Ben. He needs to tie 5th to secure his privilege, although he has some status in the Tour next year.

00:39:39:10

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Back to 10, Denny McCarthy has this for birdie and the outright lead.

00:39:43:23

GARY CHRISTIAN: Well, it really was a very aggressive shot to this back flag. I mean, for him to cash this one in. Downhill. It might just wiggle a little to the right.

00:39:52:22

CRAIG PERKS: Well, he's talked about being here to win this golf tournament. He wants that Number 1 spot. He has this sort of hungry attitude, Gary. And he has to win this golf tournament to do that. And, uh, currently tied for the lead. Pretty impressive stuff.

00:40:16:22

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Tied for 5th in Columbus, tied for 9th in Cleveland, tied for 13th in Boise, and now leading everything.

00:40:34:18

STEVE BURKOWSKI: [laugh] [clapping] Looked like a four the whole time. He said he's got a stellar short game. It was put on display there for the 22-year-old.

00:40:47:06

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Third shot for Straka.

00:40:49:11

TRIPP ISENHOUR: 112 yards away. Wind out of the right. [club swing]

00:40:54:22

TRIPP ISENHOUR: Wow. This looks really good.

00:40:59:05

CRAIG PERKS: He's got them all coming out of the top drawer today, Tripp. Magnificent shot.

00:41:03:23

STEVE BURKOWSKI: And Sepp Straka for birdie.

00:41:05:26

TRIPP ISENHOUR: Uh, this, uh, dead straight, three-footer. [cheers and clapping]

00:41:11:24

STEVE BURKOWSKI: He's been up to the challenge so far here in the final round. Currently projected 4th on the Finals 25 Money List. 25-year-old looking to cruise right along to the PGA Tour for the very first time.

00:41:25:18

PHIL BLACKMAR: Over at the 13th now, Danny McCarthy for birdie and the lead.

00:41:28:23

GARY CHRISTIAN: Very quick putt, moving gently left. Looks to be on a good line. Oh.

00:41:34:26

PHIL BLACKMAR: There you go.

00:41:39:06

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Lou Petty showing a little support. Come on, Denny McCarthy, keep the pressure on. This championship is yours for the taking. Now, back at the 18th. Henrik Norlander for birdie.

00:41:54:22

CRAIG PERKS: Well, I--again, guys, I think this a point you know what's at stake. He's been out on this Tour for a couple of years. He's working on some different things with his mind. This is a stage set right here to prove something to yourself. Birdie potentially for you PGA Tour Card.

00:42:25:27

STEVE BURKOWSKI: With a birdie, projected to move to 24th on the Finals Money List.

00:42:49:17

MALE: Get in the hole. [cheers and clapping]

00:42:52:08

CRAIG PERKS: What a putt.

00:42:55:06

CRAIG PERKS: His solution before when he was playing poorly, to practice hard. He's been working with Dr. Bret McCabe about embracing the pressure. And man, what a pressure-packed putt to make.

00:43:06:07

PHIL BLACKMAR: At 17, Ben Coles here. He needs to birdie the last two to have a chance.

00:43:14:28

PHIL BLACKMAR: Big putt there. That's one. That gets him now projected to 27th, and a tie for 7th. We had him needed a tie for 6th to get through.

00:43:25:04

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Now, back over at 16. Double-bogey putt here for Sepp Straka.

00:43:28:18

TRIPP ISENHOUR: Oh, yeah. Too late in the game for these kind of mistakes. That needs to slow down.

00:43:39:01

STEVE BURKOWSKI: So that remaining for a triple-bogey seven.

00:43:42:24

PHIL BLACKMAR: And that is Denny McCarthy for par at 17. After the poor tee shot, it's going to cost him a stroke. But the lead that was five after Sepp Straka's struggle there at the 16th is now four, with one hole to play.

00:44:00:20

STEVE BURKOWSKI: And it was a two-shot advantage, not knowing what Sepp was doing behind him.

00:44:09:24

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Back at 18, a long birdie putt for Ben Silverman. Two putts for a PGA Tour Card.

00:44:15:15

CRAIG PERKS: And so quick, cresting that slope straight down grain. Slow down.

00:44:22:09

MALE: Get in!

00:44:24:13

CRAIG PERKS: Oh, my goodness. That is disastrous.

00:44:27:10

STEVE BURKOWSKI: That was a moment ago. Now live Ben Silverman for par.

00:44:32:25

CRAIG PERKS: And a PGA Tour Card. [cheers and clapping]

00:44:45:23

CRAIG PERKS: Oh, my goodness. Well, congratulations. Was going to have some status because he finished 136th in FedEx Cup. But to regain your playing privileges by currently in a tie for the second, that's--that is phenomenal stuff for the 30-year-old.

00:45:01:29

STEVE BURKOWSKI: We see Jim Knous on 9 a short while ago with a huge par putt. Silverman does the same.

00:45:06:29

CRAIG PERKS: And you can see, these guys know exactly what they have to do. You can see by the look on his face.

00:45:13:28

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Here at 18, Roberto Diaz.

00:45:19:18

CRAIG PERKS: Yeah. He's made close to 56,000 through the first three events. He finished 5th last week in Boise. So again, this week, 13th in the Finals Money List. [clapping] And not a Top 20 finish through these Finals. That's well done. Going back to the PGA Tour where he spent last year. He feels like he's going to be better player, better equipped to handle it.

00:45:41:29

STEVE BURKOWSKI: He said he's learning quickly that his--

00:45:43:09

CRAIG PERKS: He did.

00:45:43:09

STEVE BURKOWSKI: --best wasn't nearly good enough.

00:45:45:05

CRAIG PERKS: Yep.

00:45:46:14

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Michael Thompson now to finish up with par at 18.

00:45:55:08

CRAIG PERKS: And this man's best, it's good enough to win on the PGA Tour. Won the Honda, it's now five years ago. [clapping] Needed a Top 40. And he's got himself a Top 20.

00:46:07:18

STEVE BURKOWSKI: The third time in these Tour Finals, Michael Thompson gets the job done.

00:46:11:23

CRAIG PERKS: Just don't come back. Just keep your card.

00:46:13:17

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Yeah.

00:46:14:24

STEVE BURKOWSKI: You've proven you can handle this.

00:46:15:17

CRAIG PERKS: You--you can--exactly.

00:46:19:11

PHIL BLACKMAR: And Sepp Straka for a little breathing room. Just slides by. That would have moved him into a second all alone. As it is, he will have to par the last to head to the PGA Tour. Bogey will not be enough. [clapping] Has the length to reach the par 5. But he's going to have to avoid the water and the hazards there on the 18th.

00:46:37:29

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Yeah. That cushion's gone after the triple-bogey at 16.

00:46:44:13

PHIL BLACKMAR: This is Curtis Luck now for birdie.

00:46:49:22

TRIPP ISENHOUR: A fast putt. It should wiggle right. Oh, my gosh. It went left. I don't know how it does that. That's got to be green, Phil.

00:47:01:20

PHIL BLACKMAR: Yeah. I think it's moving a little bit that direction, Tripp. It's been an interesting day for Curtis. He's made five bogeys around four birdies. [clapping]

00:47:14:19

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Second for Denny McCarthy.

00:47:16:23

GARY CHRISTIAN: At this angle about 250, 60 yards. Clear shot to the green. [club swing]

00:47:23:10

CRAIG PERKS: Keep playing away from the water here, [chuckle] Gary, from way over here.

00:47:27:15

MALE: Get in the hole.

00:47:28:17

CRAIG PERKS: Oh, my goodness. That--that's the shot of a champion. He's got a four-shot lead. And to stand up there and hit a shot like that, that is absolutely remarkable.

00:47:37:25

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Golden shot for the golden ticket.

00:47:39:12

CRAIG PERKS: Yeah. And that--the golden ticket is so important. Fully exempt. Get into the Player's Championship. The hungry attitude worked this week.

00:47:50:26

PHIL BLACKMAR: Lucas Glover now for birdie at 17.

00:47:53:06

TRIPP ISENHOUR: Two-and-a-half feet, really straight putt. Nothing to it. [clapping]

00:47:59:12

PHIL BLACKMAR: Gets one in. Gives him little breathing room into that log jam tied for 2nd. Currently projected at 13th now.

00:48:07:09

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Tringale on the green for birdie.

00:48:09:18

GARY CHRISTIAN: Yeah, straight up the hill. Pretty comfortable putt for Cameron.

00:48:17:22

MALE: Get in.

00:48:21:02

CRAIG PERKS: Good effort. Man that's spent nine consecutive years on the PGA Tour, but yet to break though. He actually made it to East Lake in 2014, and if he can somehow--

00:48:34:23

STEVE BURKOWSKI: If he can make that.

00:48:35:08

CRAIG PERKS: --wiggle that one in, he's going back for the 10th consecutive year.

00:48:40:03

STEVE BURKOWSKI: It's pretty impressive, as you said, two indifferent seasons on the PGA Tour. Finished tied for 5th in this Championship a year ago. And right now, tied for 2nd.

00:48:49:26

CRAIG PERKS: Well, his quotes were this, "It's been a long year in coming into this week. And after playing well through a couple of rounds I'm excited about golf for the first time all year." And it has "fueled his vigor." Those were his words. And with so much at stake to, uh, come out and shoot a couple under par when you're in the second-to-last group, rightfully, you could say, going back to the Tour. [cheers and clapping]

00:49:32:14

STEVE BURKOWSKI: He's excited about his game. He should be excited about the performance here. [laugh]

00:49:37:27

CRAIG PERKS: Excited about the performance this week. Yes. No question about it.

00:49:43:28

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Denny McCarthy to finish up with eagle.

00:49:46:24

MALE: Get in the hole!

00:49:49:27

CRAIG PERKS: Well, 20--uh, 23-under par around Atlantic Beach is quite remarkable. Remember, Jonathan Byrd won here last year by four shots.

00:49:57:27

STEVE BURKOWSKI: At 24 under par.

00:49:59:03

CRAIG PERKS: Yeah. I tell you what, Steve, the boost of confidence at winning this event after losing your card, although he did play quite well as a rookie, 149th. Man, maybe Denny McCarthy might--may raise a trophy in the beginning of the wrap-around season as they hit the Safeway in a couple of weeks.

00:50:21:10

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Four Top-13 finishes in the four Finals events, punctuated with a victory.

00:50:26:12

CRAIG PERKS: And the golden ticket. Fully exempt on the PGA Tour.

00:50:33:01

STEVE BURKOWSKI: So it is all about the Final 25, Craig. One last look at who got the job done.

00:50:38:02

CRAIG PERKS: Well, there is the golden ticket for Denny McCarthy, fully exempt into the Player's Championship. Sangmoon Bae won in Boise. Robert Streb won in Columbus. It is just so impressive. And, uh, you could go down the list. Look at all the experience, from Lucas Glover, to Matt Jones, to Hunter Mahan, all going back to the tour.

00:50:56:24

STEVE BURKOWSKI: Wes Roach getting the job done here in the final round. So, too, Sepp Straka. Wes going to the Tour for the third time. Sepp's very first trip to the PGA Tour. And then this is where it got interesting. This fluctuated by mere dollars. When it was all said and done, Jim Knous able to hold on and give the mile-high salute as he's headed to the PGA Tour for the first time.
