Place Medical Staff Leadership Orientation Training Virtual Program Learning Modality: Content Distribution Network (CDN)

This 3 part course is available at your local workstation or wherever CDN is available at your local VA Medical Center, VISN, or other VA facility. All 3 parts must be completed to obtain 1.5 credit hours.

CDN offerings are not available on your laptops or other personal computers when you utilize the VPN.

Purpose Statement This training is designed to provide clinical leaders and others involved in the medical staff process guidance on the roles and responsibilities, requirements, and key components of ensuring quality provider profiles that are geared appropriately toward the facilities mission and what care is to be delivered, as well as resources available to deliver that care.

Target Audience Medical Staff and Credentialing Professionals; Service/Product Line Chiefs whose organization is responsible for staff who are privileged (and any staff assisting Chiefs in the process); Credentials Committee Members (Professional Standards Boards); Medical Executive Committee Members; Chiefs of Staff/Medical Directors; Quality/Performance Improvement Professionals; and Risk Managers.

Outcome/Objectives At the conclusion of this educational program, learners will be able to:

1. define the Medical Staff Organization, roles/responsibilities, accountability, and function; 2. identify and discuss Medical Staff Organization Governance Documents; 3. identify and discuss Medical Staff Organization Regulatory Agencies and requirements; 4. discuss the Medical Staff Leadership roles and responsibilities;

Registration: It is essential that you use the course link and follow the instructions below to register for this in TMS.

Special New Instructions for Registration: 1. Log in to TMS. 2. If you have not pre-registered for the course: a. Use the Catalog search field in the upper right portion of the screen to locate the item number Click "Add to To-Do List." 3. If you have pre-registered for the course: a. Use the To-Do List search field in the upper left portion of your To-Do List to locate the item number 4. Hover over the title and click "View Details." 5. In the Item Details screen, click the link Go to Content button.

(Do not select the "Add to To-Do List" option. This will add the training to your To-Do List, but it does not register you for the training, and you would not be able to take the evaluation or post- test to qualify for CEUs.)

After clicking on the "View Offerings" button, the date, time and location for the scheduled offering will appear.

1. Select this program by clicking on the "Register" button to the right of that offering. 2. On the next page, you will click on the "Confirm" button on the upper right side of the page. This will

register you and add the training to your To-Do List and you will receive an email enrollment confirmation from TMS.

b. Click "Add to To-Do List." 3. If you have pre-registered for the course:

a. Use the To-Do List search field in the upper left portion of your To-Do List to locate the item number.

4. Hover over the title and click "View Details."

5. In the Item Details screen, click the link Go to Content button. 6. Once content is completed, close the window. 7. Click "Return to Online Content Structure." 8. Click the "Link to Post-Test." (if applicable) 9. Complete the SEES Post-Test. Once submitted, you will be directed to a screen which provides your

percent score for the test, and indicates if it is a passing score. Note your score and close the window. 10. Click "Return to Online Content Structure." 11. Once you have passed the Post-Test with a score of 70% or better, and you will be able to access the

"Link to Evaluation." (Note: If you did not achieve a passing score, you can retake the Post-Test using the same Post-Test link contained in the TMS Content Structure.) 12. Click the "Link to Evaluation and Certificate." 13. Complete the SEES Evaluation. Once submitted, close the window. 14. Click "Return to Online Content Structure." 15. There should now be a date next to both links in the Online Content Structure window. 16. Some courses require a Self-Certification to record completion. If there is a Self-Certification link present, click the link and follow the instructions given. 17. You have now completed your requirements for this course, and the item should be located in your Completed Work.

No accreditation given

Statement of Participation A certificate of completion will be awarded to participants and accreditation records will be on file at the Employee Education System. In order to receive a certificate of completion from EES, you must register in the TMS, attend 100% of the program and complete the evaluation as directed in SEES. After submission of your evaluation in SEES you will be able to print certificate of completion in the TMS.

Report of Training

It is the program participant's responsibility to ensure that this training is documented in the appropriate location according to his/her locally prescribed process.

Dihsecrleosure Statement The VA Employee Education System (EES) must ensure balance, independence, objectivity, and scientific rigor in all of its individually sponsored or jointly EES sponsored educational activities. All prospective faculty and planning committee members participating in an EES activity must disclose any relevant financial interest or other relationship with: (a) the manufacturer(s) of any commercial product(s) and / or provider(s) of commercial services discussed in an educational presentation, and (b) any commercial supporters of the activity. Relevant financial interest or other relationship includes, but is not limited to, such things as personal receipt of grants or research support, employee or consultant status, stockholder, member of speakers' bureau, within the prior 12 months. EES is responsible for collecting such information from prospective planners and faculty, evaluating the disclosed information to determine if a conflict of interest is present and, if a conflict of interest is present, to resolve such conflict. Information regarding such disclosures and the resolution of the conflicts for planners and faculty shall be provided to activity participants. When an unlabeled use of a commercial product or an investigational use not yet approved by the FDA for any purpose is discussed during an educational activity, EES shall require the speaker to disclose that the product is not labeled for the use under discussion or that the product is still investigational. The faculty and planning committee members reported that they had no relevant financial relationships with commercial entities in any amount that occurred within the past 12 months that create a conflict of interest.
