PProfile

George A. Williams, senior vice president, operations, is responsible Anne Pramaggiore, as Vice President – Regulatory and Strategic Services, oversees distribution and transmission pricing, revenue requirements, energy acquisition, environmental strategy and state regulatory affairs and strategyissues for ComEdfor overall coordination of operations including electric and gas distribution, transmission maintenance, construction, safety, environmental services, new business, and, work management and trainingxxx. He is responsible for over 3,000 ComEd and contractor personnel.

ComEd is a unit of Chicago-based Exelon Corporation. ComEd delivers electricity to approximately 3.8 million residential and business customers across Northern Illinois, or 70 percent of the state’s population.

Professional History

Williams joined the company in 2006 with more than 22 years of experience in the electric utility industry. Before joining ComEd, Williams was vice president of operations at Entergy’s Grand Gulf Nuclear Station in Port Gibson, Miss. Williams began his tenure at Entergy in 2002 as vice president of operations support.

Before joining Entergy, Williams served as general manager of nuclear assurance at PPL Susquehanna. Prior to PPL, Williams served as general manager, plant operations at Carolina Power and Light. Before joining CP&L, Williams spent 15 years at PECO, where he held a number of positions after starting at the company’s Limerick Generating Station in 1984.

Williams joined the company in 2006 and has more than 224 years of experience in the electric utility industry. He cameomes to ComEd after serving 4½ years at Entergy, including more than three years as vice president of Operations at Entergy’s Grand Gulf Nuclear Station, a boiling water reactor in Port Gibson, Miss.

As vice president of the plant, Williams was responsible for providing strategic direction to 750 employees and contractors toward the achievement of operational results through leadership of the internal line and support organizations.  He was also responsible for external engagement of regulatory bodies, public agencies and industry audiences. Williams joined Entergy Nuclear South in 2002 as vice president of operations support, providing strategic guidance to improve performance and efficiency of Entergy’s five nuclear units in Arkansas, Louisiana and Mississippi. 

Before joining Entergy, Williams served from 2001 to 2002 at PPL Susquehanna as general manager of Nuclear Assurance. He reported directly to the senior vice president and chief nuclear officer and was responsible for strategic direction of nuclear quality programs and independent safety engineering evaluations. From 1999 to 2001, he served at Carolina Power & Light (CP&L), first as general manager of Plant Operations, overseeing the work of 800 employees. He went on to serve as general manager of Plant Operations, Southern Region, responsible for CP&L operations in Florida, South Carolina and North Carolina.

Prior to joining CP&L, Williams spent 15 years at PECO, where he held a number of positions after starting at the company’s Limerick Generating Station in 1984.  He served in various nuclear engineering, operations and technical positions at Limerick and obtained a Senior Reactor Operator License and Shift Technical Advisor Certification.  He rose from nuclear shift supervisor at PECO to plant manager of the Delaware and Schuylkill fossil generating stations. In 1997, he became director of Operations and Maintenance for Exelon On-Site Energy & Services.  In 1998, he moved to corporate as the director of Corporate Planning & Analysis.   

Honors

Williams was selected by the editors of U.S. Black Engineer & Information Technology magazine for the prestigious 100 Most Important Blacks in Technology list for 2006 and 2008, and he also appeared on the 2005 list of the 50 Most Important Blacks in Technology. Honorees are chosen for this annual list based on their work in making technology part of global society. Selected as one of Chicago’s Interesting Personalities in Who’s Who in Black Chicago.

Ms. Pramaggiore joined the company in 1998 and has helped direct the company’s legal and regulatory efforts in Restructuring.aspects of Customer Choice, She has served serving as a legal liaison to the Illinois Commerce Commission relating to Illinois electric restructuring and functioned ason the establishment of delivery service tariffs a. Before joining the company, Ms. Pramaggiore was a partner in the trade regulation practice group of Chicago law firm McDermott, Will & Emery. Prior to joining McDermott Will, she clerked for the Honorable Charles Kocoras, United States District Court, Northern District Illinois. She is a 1989 graduate of DePaul University of Law and served as Editor-in-Chief of the school’s Law Review.

Civic Involvement

XxxWilliams wasis an active board member in numerous civic and professional organizations in Mississippi, including United Way, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Boy Scouts of America, Andrew Jackson Council Board of Directors and American Association of Blacks in Energy (AABE), Association of Edison Illuminating Companies (AEIC), Executive Leadership Council (ELC), and After School Matters (ASM).

Education

Williams earned a bachelors of science degree in electrical engineering from Widener University in 1984 and his M.B.A. from St. Joseph’s University in 1994.

He received a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Widener University in 1984 and a master of business administration degree from Saint Joseph’s University in 1994. He has completed the Wharton’s Executive Development Program at the University of Pennsylvania, the Leadership Development Program at the Center for Creative Leadership and Harvard University’s program for senior executives.

George Williams is married to Lynn Williams, and they have three beautiful children, Charisse, Gregory and AllenGeorge, Jr.
