YACVic is an independent, not-for-profit, member-driven organisation that represents young people (aged 12–25 years) and the sector that works with them.About the roleThe Digital Communications Officer will strategise and develop content to inform and influence young people, the youth sector, our members and government about YACVic’s activities and advocacy. Key responsibilities include developing campaign communications; writing and coordinating a YACVic blog and regulare newsletters; producing content for our social media channels and member communications; EDM management; copywriting, editing and proofreading; proactively engaging with the media around YACVic’s work; and tone of voice and key messaging development.Key responsibilitiesEdit and produce three regular enewsletters using Mailchimp (Announce, Signposts and Koorie Youth Council enews)Write, research and publish content for the YACVic blogCreate compelling content for YACVic’s social channels consistent with our ‘voice’ and ‘vision’Pursue relationships with influencers and journalists in order to build awareness of YACVic and its advocacyProduce weekly internal and external email communicationsMaintain content on the YACVic websiteWrite media releasesWrite and/or edit a range of content related to communication around YACVic and its partner agencies’ activitiesContribute to the continuous improvement of YACVic’s communications activities and strategy.You will be required to perform these duties, and any other duties the employer may assign to you, having regard to your skills, training and experience.ReportingThis role reports to the Communications and Design Manager.Key Selection Criteria Demonstrated experience producing digital content for a variety of communication channels, including social media content for an organisationDemonstrated ability to coordinate, write and edit content for publications both online and offlineExperience maintaining a website through a content management system, and knowledge of accessible web design principles Demonstrated experience pitching to media and influencers to increase the profile of a project or organisationDemonstrated experience developing communication and campaign strategies, including using analytics to drive strategyAbility to work independently and as part of a team.
