Hope reported that all meetings in 2020 will be virtual.She also reported that she has been given a leave of absence (month of October) from her position, so that she and her husband can make a big move. She will continue to send out flyers as they are sent to her.Resource SharingHope reported that the Governor recently signed an Executive Order to provide $10million for short-term training to help those impacted by COVID-19.Hope reminded the Team that the Sussex One-Stop Partner Resource List has been updated as of July. This provides contact information, by county, of other potential referrals for our consumers and can be found on the One-Stop Team link. This will be updated again in November and will be updated on a quarterly basis. One-Stop Team Link: VOCAL Chat Link: Labor Market Data: Partner Sharing – Information about DART’s “Get a Ride/Get a Job” program was reviewedDrive through food pantry on 9/25 at Crossroads Community Church (Food Bank of DE)There is now a chat function under the Unemployment Insurance website. This can be used to get answers to UI issues.PresentationsTelamon: Rosa Rodriguez provided an overview of Telamon Services. Telamon recently became a WIOA Partner and now attends the WIOA Leadership Team meetings. National Farmworkers Job Program - Only national workforce development program targeted specifically to farmworkers; Main focuses are education and job training leading to self-sufficiency. The program helps farmworkers acquire the skills they need to retain agricultural jobs or start new careers.NFJP serves eligible Migrant Seasonal Farm Workers and their dependents. Eligible farmworkers are those individuals who primarily depend on employment in agricultural labor that is characterized by chronic unemployment and underemployment. JFJP services include short-term direct assistance that helps farmworkers and their family members to retain their agricultural employment or to participate in intensive or training services.Success Stories form DET Youth programs, statewide, were shared.11/9/20 Webinar: Hope sent out a flyer this morning regarding a capacity building and centralized resource hub for workforce development that is being developed and proposed.Opportunities for Improvement: Ideas, Issues, Process Improvement, etc. Improvement Efforts in Sussex County – Where do we go from here?Hope asked team members for an initial list of improvement ideas -or- issues that keep jobseekers from achieving their best. Here are the responses: homelessness is still a huge issue; lack of internet (esp. with COVID); lack of phone service; transportation barriers; available training funds are not widely known; job seekers are not clear about what Dept. of Labor doesThis discussion will continue in November.8/26/20 One-Stop Team Convening and Looking to 2021 Convening IdeasThose attending this year’s first virtual convening agreed that the presentations were helpful and relevant to current efforts.Hope reported that the Teams will start working on the 2021 Convening in November.At this point, there were no specific presentation suggestions.Next Meeting Date: Wednesday, December 9th, 9:30 – 11:30. This will be an online meeting. There will be no meetings in October or November for the Sussex One-Stop Team. ................
