High School Orchestra Lesson Plan4/14/2020Overview: Practice individual instrumental technique and rehearse current musicEstimated time: 45 minutes – 1 hourExplanation:Students will rehearse their major scales, arpeggios and broken thirds with the metronomeStudents will work on their part for Mountain Spring to record for flipgrid April 27th.Students will record their solo piece to practice for the April 20th due date via flipgrid.Tasks:FOR STUDENTS WITH INSTRUMENTS: (These tasks should be done for next week and the following)Take out your instrument and tune – you can utilize an online A to help you tune. Pick 4 scales and the associated arpeggios and broken thirds to warm up with. Play with the metronome. Start at 80 if you are unsure of how to play the scaleYour goal is to play those 4 scales, arpeggios, and broken thirds at 100. If you are in chamber strings – try to get to 120. Next practice Mountain Spring. The goal with this piece is to record it to try to put together a virtual Orchestra. I’m working with a neighbor to try to put all of your audio together as well as a video of you playing. Please note: You do not have to participate in the video but I would still like you to record your part and then just email me that you don’t want to be in the video. I will provide a backing track for you to play with. EVERY student must play with the recording playing in their headphones. If you aren’t wearing headphones we will hear the backing track and I only need your part to put with everyone else’s part but we must all be playing to the same track. When you record please make sure I can see you actually playing – be in a bright enough location with a blank wall behind you and wear an East shirt if you have one. Make sure you play straight through – its ok if you make a mistake but play as expressively as you can even though when you listen to yourself it may sound a little funny without all the other parts. When you are ready to record the flipgrid code is: b766104aRecord your solo piece that you chose by Monday, April 20th.Flipgrid code is: 98c11df8You may record it with accompaniment or without. Your choice. FOR STUDENTS WITHOUT INSTRUMENTS: Locate the Students without instruments Module on the East Orchestra Canvas site. You will have options of what to complete ever other week. There is a mixture of music history worksheets, theory worksheets and listening activitiesComplete your activity that you chose last week.Once you are finished with it please share or email it to Mrs. DiVasto.Due Date for the first assignment is Monday, April 20th *Please note: If you do not have your instrument you should also be listening to the concert music EVERYDAY since you aren’t able to physically practice it on your instrument. This is a form of practicing and can be incredibly helpful! ................
