McLennan Community College collaborates with ISD partners to provide relevant information regarding dual credit opportunities, benefits, and costs. Outreach efforts include those identified below.

Information is maintained on the program website, mclennan.edu/hs-pathways. Online orientation: All students new to a High School Pathways program complete a 60-minute,

online orientation that addresses basic definitions, eligibility requirements, student behavior, accommodations, student support services, risks/benefits of dual credit, and other topics. The orientation may be viewed here: . Orientation sessions: In addition to a mandatory, online orientation for students, the program also schedules supplemental, face-to-face orientation sessions for either students or parents at ISD request. Orientation typically addresses schedule changes, costs, payment, books, appropriate college behavior, and the attendance policy. Student advising: The majority of dual credit students who meet with an MCC transfer/college advisor do so in one-on-one advising meetings. Advisors discuss students' future educational plans and the likely transferability of requested coursework. Video conferences noted below lasted a minimum of 1 hour and included meetings with multiple students. Parent/student meeting: Typically held in the evenings, these meetings present an overview of the dual credit program for parents and students. Topics include basic definitions, risks/benefits of dual credit (including potential financial aid risks), course choices, cost, and enrollment process. Special requests: The program attempts to accommodate special request presentations, some of which are identified on the schedule below.

COVID Pandemic Adjustments: Due to the COVID pandemic, a reduced number of parent/student meetings were held via Zoom, recorded, and the recordings distributed to school districts. Most student advising sessions moved to Zoom, with a larger than usual number of students being advising individually through Zoom, phone conference, and email consultation.
