Objective

To build and sustain a championship caliber, rules-compliant baseball program by providing a hard-working, structured, disciplined, and team-oriented atmosphere. The primary focus will be graduating student-athletes while instilling and promoting values, character, and academic excellence in the young men representing the university and the community. In the classroom, I will provide detailed and organized presentations designed to give students a valuable and positive learning experience.

Coaching Experience

2011 - 13 Head Coach, Santa Barbara City College (Santa Barbara, CA)

▪ Took over struggling program in rural area that had only 6 returning players, 1.87 Team GPA, and 7 wins in 2011

▪ Recruited 30 new players in three weeks of hire date and doubled win total in 2012

▪ Best start in West Hills history in 2013

▪ Raised Team GPA to 3.05 and had 19 players (of 29) with 3.00 GPA in Fall 2012

▪ Implemented new offensive system that raised team batting average 51 points (.232 to .283)

▪ Raised $15,000 in first year and made over $20,000 in field renovations and equipment upgrades

▪ Produced 6 CCCBCA All-Academic team members in ’12 and ’13 (most in entire state)

▪ Produced 6 all-conference players in ’12 and 8 in ‘13

▪ Implemented rigorous Academic Excellence, Progress, and Performance Program (AEP3) designed to assist players with time management, note-taking, and organizational classroom skills

▪ Also started CORE Leadership Program

▪ Duties include full oversight and management of entire program; besides ordinary and everyday baseball operations, tasks include fundraising, scheduling, player development, player recruitment, monitoring student-athlete eligibility, recruiting and hiring qualified assistant coaches, and community relations

▪ Coached for 2008 National Champion and 2-time NCAA Coach of the Year Mike Batesole

▪ Finished 40-16, WAC Champion, WAC Tournament Champion, NCAA Regional appearance at UCLA

▪ Ten players selected in 2011 MLB Draft

▪ As volunteer assistant, coached first base, assisted all facets of program, and coached outfielders (which included 10th Rd pick Dusty Robinson, 22nd Rd pick Brennan Gowens, and projected 2013 Top 10 pick Aaron Judge)

2010 Associate Scout, Colorado Rockies (Fresno, CA)

▪ Worked for Blake Crosby, Area Scout, whose region extended from Santa Barbara to Sacramento

▪ Responsible for scouting, evaluating, and turning in reports on Fresno/Clovis and surrounding area players

2006 Envoy Coach, Major League Baseball (Poland)

▪ Hired by MLB, working for MLB Global Coordinator Pat Doyle, to coach in Envoy Program; traveled to Poland for 6 weeks to work with Polish National Team and various club teams around the country

▪ Spearheaded, coordinated, and ran various clinics and camps for youth, high school, and college-aged players; organized several coaches clinics throughout the country

2004 - 10 Head Coach, Clovis West High School (Fresno, CA)

▪ Molded program into one of best in the state of California with an 109-25 (.813) record from ‘07 – ‘10

▪ State Champions in ‘09; finished #4 in ’08, #10 in ’10

▪ CIF-CS Valley Champions in ‘09 and ‘10; League Champions in ‘07, ‘08

▪ Reached CIF-CS Final Four 5 straight years; CIF-CS Playoffs all 6 years

▪ Set record for most wins in school’s 117-year history in 3 consecutive seasons

▪ Records of 32-3 in ‘09, 28-3 in ‘08, 26-6 in ‘07

▪ Selected as San Francisco Giants / Fresno Grizzlies Coach of the Year in ‘11

▪ Selected as Fresno County “Coach of the Year” in ‘08; Head Coach of City/County All-Star Game in ‘08

▪ Projects included: organized several fundraisers resulting in over $70,000, made close to $60,000 in field renovations, produced yearly 70-page media guide, ran baseball camps, organized community service program for players (Valley Children’s Hospital, camps, etc.)
