Constitution Storybook

You will create a storybook in which you tell the story of the foundation of America with the ratification of the Constitution. You will be reviewing the history of this country and the events that led to the signing of the United States Constitution. This story should be written for a young audience (think elementary school)! It should be easy to understand, with pictures to assist in the story telling. Use your notes, workbook, textbook, or dictionary to help you.

A. Cover with title and names of group members and hour

B. Table of Contents with pages and Pages numbered at the bottom (It may be best to do this page last)

C. 3 events that contributed to the creation of the Constitution As you come up with your story, think about the major events that contributed to the foundation of this country. Using these events, tell the story of how America and our Constitution came to be. These events can include, but are not limited to, the signing of the Declaration of Independence, conflict with nations following the revolution, economy problems, the Articles of Confederation, the Virginia and New Jersey Plans, compromises, etc. Your event should include:

a. 1 sentence demonstrating what the event is

b. 1 sentence on how it led to the foundation of the Constitution

c. Illustration depicting the event

D. You will also include the Preamble illustration page

a. Include Preamble boxes with images and explain the preamble in your own words at the bottom of the page

E. Assigned articles/amendments.

a. The quote directly from the constitution

b. Summarize what it means in your own words

c. Why it is important to today

d. Illustration depicting your amendment

Requirements:

*Should be formatted like a book. Binding (Staples, binder, whole punch with yarn, etc.) You may use lined, printer, or construction paper.

* Printed/colored neatly. Each story page must have a picture that corresponds to the text on that page. 7th grade level drawings (no stick figures). Must be colored!!!

*Story content must be relevant to the foundation of the United States’ Constitution

*You will be presenting your story book to your peers.

*Group collaboration and effort in class
