NameExam NumberCourseTitleI have a dog named Patches, but Patches is not a dog. Patches has been with me through thick and thin, and he is over twenty years old now! You see, Patches is my favorite stuffed animal. He is a white dog, although he has turned a bit grey with age, and he has little orange spots on his ear, back, and tail, and these orange patches are what he was named for. Patches and I have had many adventures over the years. When I was in 4K, he came with me on Spring Break to Splash Mountain. My dad had to hold him under his shirt to protect him from the water, and I brought back polaroid pictures of myself standing alone by the water rides holding patches up over my head to show off at show-and-tell. My dad keeps one of these polaroids on his desk and reminds me of that time he had to protect Patches from the water. My dad, Patches, and I have shared many fond memories together. When I was little, my dad would tuck me in every night and tell me the strange and wonderful adventures Patches had in the woods near our house while I was asleep. These adventures were often based on the late night 1950s sci-fi movies my dad would let Patches and me watch with him on the weekends. Over the years, Patches has become a great traveler. From flying with me to overseas trips to coming with me to college, Patches has always been there to support me.My parents have not always been around to protect Patches, like my dad did at Splash Mountain. At sleepovers, my friends always brought their stuffed animals along until they stopped without telling me. Eventually, I was the only one left who still brought Patches along to sleep with at a sleepover, and once as a prank on me, a friend threw Patches in the toilet. Even though his fur was a bit matted and grey after my dad put him through the wash, Patches came out alright. From then on, I just hid Patches in my backpack when I went to visit someone. When I was older, I decided to go stay at a friend’s place. She lived in a dingy apartment with many roommates and even more dirty dishes piled up in the sink. Still, I kept Patches hidden in my backpack on the floor by the bed, but I did not know that she had rats which only came out at night. They attacked him, tearing at the stuffing of his feet, and his paw strings hang loose to this day. We used some disinfectant on him, and my dad sighed and asked me not to take him with me to sleepovers anymore. In his old age, I think of him as retired to my room, where he still watches out for me at night. Although Patches becomes patchier with every injury, he still holds on no matter what situation I am in. Now, you are probably wondering where I got Patches. My mom and I went to Cracker Barrel once when I was four. It was a good day, since not often did we go to Cracker Barrel for breakfast and even more seldom did my parents let me get anything from the adjacent toy shop. When I was four, stuffed animals were my favorite things to collect. My bed was almost overrun with them, but I could tell Patches was special, even before I knew. That was a great day with my mom; we went shopping, saw a movie, and ate all my favorite foods. When we got home that evening, my parents were arguing, and I was in my room, not really knowing or caring what this argument was about. Afterwards, my mom went to her room and walked all around in a huff. She came to me and said, “Do you want to go with me or stay with your Dad?” I did not really understand the question. After all, we had been together all day, and I was tired. I was confused since I thought we had already ran all our errands that day. I was quiet for a minute, trying to puzzle out her meaning, and she said, “Fine. He’ll never be as good to you as me.” She got in her car, and I watched her drive off from my window. I still was not sure where she was going, but my dad did not speak to me for the rest of the day. That was the first night he tucked me in and told me tales of Patches. Sometimes I wish my mom had been there for all the things Patches and I experienced. ................
