Earth's land is constantly changing. Wind and water are two things that contribute to most of the changes in land.

Weathering is the wearing away or slow breaking apart of rock into smaller pieces. Plant roots, ice, wind, and water are all causes of weathering.

Moving water in rivers cause rocks to rub together. Over time, these rocks get smaller and smoother.

Plant roots growing in rocks can cause them to split.

-Wind blowing rocks and water freezing in rocks both cause erosion too.

Erosion is the movement of sediment from one place to another.

Again, wind and water (moving water or ice) are the primary causes

Glacier a large mass of slow-moving ice that flows down a slope. It pushes rocks and soil as it moves.

Deposition is the dropping of sediment by wind, water, ice, or gravity. Sediment is created through the process of weathering, carried away through the process of erosion, and then dropped in a new location through the process of deposition. When wind and water slow down, they drop the sediments they are carrying.

Effects of Deposition:

Deltas *large masses of deposited sediment at the mouth of a river.

Sand Dunes *large piles of sand along the coastline
