CLASS CODE: 2099 PAY GRADE: 020 CLASS TITLE: SENIOR WEB PAGE DESIGN SPECIALIST ALLOCATION FACTOR(S) This is advanced technical graphic design work for web-based applications involving the design, construction, and interaction of web pages/sites including incorporating graphic user interface (GUI) features and techniques. This class is responsible for arranging page/site layout and functionality based upon sound layout principles and aesthetic design concepts utilizing industry-wide recognized languages/software products.EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED: (Note: The examples of work as listed in this class specification are not necessarily descriptive of any one position in the class. The omission of specific statements does not preclude management from assigning specific duties not listed herein if such duties are a logical assignment to the position. Examples of work performed are not to be used for allocation purposes.) Designs advanced graphics.Designs and constructs thematic web pages and sites.Produces advanced graphics, graphical designs and copy layouts for online Content.Designs forms and graphics for downloading.Links pages/sites using basic industry-wide languages/software products.Maps navigation and functionality of web sites.Tests navigation and functionality within and between web pages and sites.Coordinates with programming staff to insure interface between web pages and databases.Designs and builds state-of-the-industry special features including animated GIFS, revolving color schemes and mouseovers.Customizes functional and navigational features.Conducts information assessments to determine owner requirements and solutions to meet user needs.Performs related work as required.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: (Note: The knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA's) identified in this class specification represent those needed to perform the duties of this class. Knowledge of recognized industry-wide web development languages.Knowledge of recognized industry-wide web development software/programs.Knowledge of advanced graphical design techniques.Knowledge of P. C. based operating systems.Knowledge of recognized industry-wide graphics design software/programs.Knowledge of aesthetic design concepts.Knowledge of File Transfer Protocol (FTP) software/program.Knowledge of principles, practices and techniques of advanced web page/site construction.Ability to produce advanced graphics.Ability to build and animate graphics.Ability to understand and write accepted industry-wide markup languages.Ability to link web pages and sites.Ability to construct basic web pages and sites.Ability to maintain and provide ongoing design of web site.Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.Ability to communicate technical information effectively.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Completion of 60 Semester or 90 quarter hours of college course work from an accredited institution which includes four (4) courses in computer science, graphic design, web design, multimedia design or management information systems and two years of graphic design or web development experience; orCompletion of a 720 classroom hour program of study from a vocation/technical school or accredited community college in an area of graphic design, web design, multimedia design, data processing or computer science and two years experience in above related fields; orThree years of experience in the above-related fields will substitute for the required education; orA bachelor's degree in graphic design, computer science or Management Information Systems with a specialization in web design will substitute for the required experience.EFFECTIVE: 3/30/2001HISTORY: ................
