Constitution High Points

• Article I - Legislative branch laws –

Key Point: Section 8 lists 18 specific areas Congress can make law – NO OTHERS.

• Article II - Executive branch laws –

Key Point: Executive Orders are NOT law.

• Article III – Judicial branch laws –

Key Point: Court decisions are NOT law (i.e. Roe vs. Wade). Decision applies ONLY to the parties of the case decided. This nation was founded under rule of law, not case law.

• Article IV - Republican form

• Article V - Amendment Procedure

• Article VI – Debts, Treaties & Oaths -

Key Points: Treaties are pursuant to (must AGREE with) the Constitution and do NOT overrule it. Also, all elected representatives are BOUND BY OATH to support this Constitution.

• Power – force or strength (Webster’s 1828 Dictionary)

• Authority – legal power (Webster’s 1828 Dictionary)

• Legal - according to the laws of nature and of nature's God [Webster's 1828 Dictionary]

• The Laws of Nature's God - the moral law…contained in the …10 commandments written by the finger of God. [Webster's 1828 Dictionary]

• Laws of nature – a rule of conduct arising out of the natural relations of human beings established by the Creator, and existing prior to any positive [written] precept. (Webster’s 1828 Dictionary)

[Comment: In other words, the laws of nature are intuitively and instinctively known to man. They do not have to be written out. They are in his conscience.]

[Application: Government officials who are ruling within the boundaries of the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God are acting under God's authority and you are bound to obey them. Government officials who are ruling outside the boundaries of the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God are acting in power, not legal authority, and you are not bound to obey them. • Tyranny (as defined by Thomas Aquinas)

- Taking power without lawful authority;

- Taking power lawfully, but using it unlawfully;

- When a tyrant commands what God forbids – Christians must disobey.
